The Delta Bombers - Pressure and Time 2018

It's hard to believe The Delta Bombers have been around ten years now.In that time they have proven to be one of the hardest working outfits out there and  one of the best rock n roll bands too boot.At their heart, they are a blues band but the band's strength is their ability to lace the blues with everything from rockabilly, garage, country to straight up rock and more. So far they have 3 outstanding albums plus a live one under their belts and now you can add " Pressure and Time"to the list. Coming in with 9 originals and 3 covers that again run the gamut. This time out they really  up the country, throw in  a surprising cover of "Sympathy For The Devil" and still manage to serve up a whack of revved up dirty and kool rockabilly/ rock n roll. Hell this is one diverse and impressive effort. Then again if your familiar with the band ,you just know it's got to be top shelf. Highlights include : "Jump Back Baby", "Let Her Go", " Pressure and Time", "Hi- Strung Ramble" and "Good Disguise"

Once again The Delta Bombers  deliver the goods with " Pressure and Time". They are in top form here and can still surprise. This is one kool album that will color you impressed. Highly Recommended!!

The Cable Bugs - Have A Ball 2017

Since forming in 2002 The Cable Bugs have had more than their share of ups and downs. It seems like they get on a roll and then life gets in the way. As a result the band's only release is their fine debut album "Oh my Bug" back in 2012,until now. In 2017 they signed up with Wolverine Records and have recently dropped their long awaited  sophomore album, "Have A Ball ".This puppy comes in with 12 originals and 1 cover of sweet and catchy rock n roll/ rockabilly than brings it on. This is a  band that has the confidence to change and mix it  up ,then throw in some blues into the pot  .The result is a more than satisfying stew of fresh modern rockabilly .It's serious  rockabilly that's a whack of fun.Highlights include: "Mercenary Blues", "My Cat's Cat's Gone", the cover of "Black Diamond" and "Have A Ball".

The Cable Bugs have a solid rep of been a damn fine band and that's backed up with "Have A Ball ". This is a pretty stout and fun album that pays off big. You should really check them out. Recommended!!!     https://www.facebook.com/pg/TheCableBugs/about/?ref=page_internal

The Tumblin' Go Go's - A Living Sickness 2017

When it comes to neo rockabilly / psychobilly groups ,The Tumblin' Go Go's take a back seat to no one. Sure that may not be as well known as some of the big guns out there but don't let that fool you. These cats have blazed their own path over the years and as a result they have  one hell of a stellar catalog that will color you impressed. That said the band has dropped their latest and most surprising effort yet. With  "A Living Sickness"(the band's 8th album),they slam on the brakes, really mix it up and rip out of the box.We get the usual neo- rockabilly/psychobilly with flares of surf, the  blues and shades of country ,but that's not all. This time out the band really defies the genre lines.Throw in a whack of sound effects, some low-fi ,some psychedelic and even more blues. This is dirty and dark, yet freakin' damn kool. At times it seems erratic but it draws you in and maintains your interest.Highlights include: "Blood Red Eyes", "Shitkickers", "Snake Demon" and "Salvation".

The Tumblin' Go Go's have taken a big gamble with " A Living Sickness" .As a result this puppy is eclectic as well as refreshing and daring. If your willing to take a chance, the pay off is big. Highly recommended!

With a whack of stellar singles ,a couple of ep's and yes 2 albums ("Sirocco" and "Shake") under their belts they have become and rightfully so a big deal to many. The band's(duo) latest offering " Come On In" only cements their growing reputation. This puppy is a loaded gun of 16  powerful tracks that stay the course. So you know we get the usual dark, unique, authentic  mix of rockabilly, rock n roll  and blues. Also once again we get their latest singles and some new songs here. The Malicious Dogs - Redemption 2017

Snarling and growling out of France come  The Malicious Dogs  a trio of psychobilles that aren't afraid to push the fold.Playing a blend of old school and new psychobilly with a solid does of rock n roll and blues that makes them kinda unique. The band's debut album "Redemption" is solid proof of that. This puppy bites hard with 14 original tracks that mixes things up.We get  straight psychobilly to psycho infused blues/rocking jams. Hell 7 tracks push beyond the 5 minutes barrier so you know this isn't your typical psychobilly band. One track, "Wild Wolf" comes in at just under the 8 minute mark.Despite the long tracks the album still manages to gain and hold your attention from start to finish. It's a different and refreshing kool ride.Highlights include "Hot Rod Ride", "Machiavellian Miles", "Losing Card" and "Rockin' Walk"

If anything "Redemption" is a stout, interesting and daring debut that pays off.The Malicious Dogs are a band that are willing to take chances and the results are pretty damn good.Recommended.

Donna Dunne & The Mystery Men - Voodooo 2017

Back in 2012 Donna Dunne started making a name for herself  with the release of the single "Woman In Black". A  kool slice of bluesy rockabilly with tinges of gypsy and Americana .Many considered her  a "retro-revamped rock n’ roller"but her sound is also a mix bag of roots music. Over the years she has earned a rep as a no bullshit , hard working artist who knows what she wants. In late 2016  in a surprising move she hitched up with psychobilly legend and Diablo Records head honcho Phil Doyle.Originally they were going to do a single but then quickly the goal became an album .The buzz about this project was and is  pretty solid .Then word of  who the band ,The Mystery Men were got out and that even jacked up the buzz more.Doyle had brought in Phil Polecat on Bass & Craig Erikson(Moonshine Stalkers) on Drums ,which had many wondering if Donne Dunne was truly outside of her wheelhouse. The answer to that is a resounding no and proof is in the results. The album "Voodoo" has now dropped and it's a winner. This puppy is a strong, refreshing and diverse outing that is hard to resist.Clocking in with 12 tracks of a delicious brew that mixes blues, gypsy, rocknroll and rockabilly. We get  rockers to ballads, all of which come off with a stout swagger.Considering who's in this band some people may think this is a restraint affair but don't let that fool you .At times "Voodoo" is haunting as well as powerful. Highlights include: "Lovespell", "Mystery Man", "Shame","Voodoo" and "I Huffed &I Puffed".

Donna Dunne & The Mystery Men  have scored a direct hit with "Voodoo".It may not be what one expects from Diablo records in that it's not a psychobilly/ rockabilly release but it has a style and flair that's unique. This is a great sounding ,well produced album that sticks with you.Hopefully we will be hearing more from this outfit in the future.Highly recommended.                                                                       https://www.facebook.com/donnadunneandthemysterymen/

Voodoo Swing - To You My Friend 2016

A lot has been said about Voodoo Swing  over the years ,good and bad.For some they are not rockabilly enough for others they aren't bluesy enough. Some would say it's been almost a no win situation but at the end of the day they have been  and are a killer band. This is a band that has always blurred the lines, playing the music they wanted to and loving it (kudos to them). With 7 really strong albums under their belt , the last in early 2013,then later that year  the band decided to pack it in. Well you can't keep a good band down and they have reformed and dropped the album " To You My Friend ". This baby struts in with 11 tracks that  are surprisingly refreshing and diverse . This isn't a rockabilly album, hell for the most part it's a killer blues fueled ride with an awesome vibe. There is some rockabilly ,some honky tonk, country, rock and more roots. We get horns, key boards and even the mandolin here. One has to be impressed with the range of ground they cover here.Highlights include: " You Ain't Doing Me Right", "To You My Friend","Chokin' The Chicken " and the kool "So Fine".

You gotta give it to Voodoo Swing not only are they back but also "To You My Friend " is pretty impressive. One thing for sure is these cats are damn good and have the balls to prove it.Highly recommended

@ The Skiffle Billy Cocktail - The Centrifugal Charisma of the Cowboy Cosmos & the Collapse of Charlatan Chaos 2016

@The Skiffle Billy Cocktail  just may be one of the most unique bands out there. Hell you be hard pressed to describe their sound. Someone described them as " Hillbilly Rock’olla Skiffle Rag". What is for sure is that these kats probably aren't in your wheelhouse but man their damn good and given the chance you'll probably dig them.  Back in 2012 they released the stellar debut  "Billy Budha &The Crazy Curse Of The Red Mustang" an album you should check out.Now their back with the sophomore effort " The Centrifugal Charisma of the Cowboy Cosmos & the Collapse of Charlatan Chaos".  Once again they defy convention with a mix bag of 13 tracks  of kool styles and sounds. From country, roots, rock, blues, doowop and a whack more.Throw in some great harmonies and the result is one damn good infectious romp that surly will grow on you. This is one of those albums that has you tapping your foot and you don't realize it. The Deltas - Good Time Guide 2015

The Deltas have always been a kool band .Right from their start back in 1980 the band quickly earned a rep as been one of the wildest live acts around .Hell their brand of  revved up, blues fueled rockabilly helped push the first wave of psychobilly into the public eye.To this day they still  remain not only  influential but also essential listening. From 1981's "Boogie Disease" to 1996's "From Feetville To Vegas" these kats have laid down some serious frantic rock n roll. All that said it's been 20 years since their last album and now they are back and just as hungry as ever. Not messing around these kats headed over to Diablo Records for their latest effort and the result is the killer album "Good Time Guide". This puppy comes in with 11 tracks that don't disappoint.Ranging from  rockabilly to all out rockers to the blues and even country. The band doesn't miss a step here and at times this is refreshingly vigorous.Highlights include "Wreck Your Country", " Milk And Honey", " Alligator Wine " and "80 Minute Drive".

Twin . Fin - Whiskey Wine & Venom Love 2015

These days it's gotta be a tough row for swingabilly bands. There aren't many doing it and the venues for them to play at  are far and few.In the barren waste lands  of South Western Ontario hail the outfit known as  Twin . Fin. Over the past few years they have changed members, their name and have evolved from a straight up rockabilly band to a pretty kool swingabilly band. During that time they developed a  following, gained some  strong radio airplay and released a strong single "Rocco Perri". That song has gotten the band some major attention. The next step for these kats was to put out an album.Instead of rushing out something they would regret the band  took the time and effort to do it right as they say.The result is "Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" a strong, smooth and damn good debut. We get  10 originals  of swingabilly that have the right mix of blues ,jazz and rockabilly. The songs range from sultry slow burners  to all out out boppers and as a result the album has a kool vibe and a good flow.Highlights include: "Devil Girl Stomp", "City Of City",  "Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" and " Won't Let You Go"
This is a strong debut by a band that has good songs  and can execute them very well.If your into swingabilly this puppy is for you and even if your not " Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" is worth checking out. When it comes to Jenny and The Lovers the one thing you always read and hear is "Big Beat Red Hot Rock-A-Boogie". Well that's not far off the mark, this Berlin based outfit is known for their brand of 50's inspired rock n roll/rockabilly with an influx  of blues, surf, country and more, that's damn hard to resist. The band's 2012  debut album "Film Noir" is more that solid and managed to gain some international attention. Now their back with the sophomore effort "Strangelove" and let's just  say that they have upped their game. This puppy strolls in with 16 tracks that are a pretty good bang for your buck.We get a mix of covers that range from slow burners to ballads to straight up rockers. Carolina And Her Rhythm Rockets - By My Side 2015

Back in 2013 Carolina & Her Rhythm Rockets appeared  to come out of the blue with a stunning debut album.Fact was the band formed in 2011 and  had developed a rep as a killer live act. However their debut left many wondering if their sophomore effort would be nearly as good. While the wait is over with "By My Side" and there diffidently is no sophomore jinx happening here. Frantic Rockers - Savage Beat 2014

One of the biggest surprises  of 2014 has been the emergents of the  Frantic Rockers, this young LA blues rock band has caught on in a big way with the rockabilly community. Also surprising is that they signed on with Rhythm Bomb Records a label you really don't associate with the blues. That was and is a smart move by both camps. Hell from all accounts they blew the lid off  the joint at this years Viva Las Vegas .One thing for sure  is that the Frantic Rockers are one killer band that play hard driving blues with  rockabilly overtones  and with a bit of punk attitude. All this leads us to the band's debut album "Savage Beat " and this puppy totally kicks butt.We get 13 tracks (10 originals) that push hard and deliver the goods. This is "rockin' blues" that hits the nerve  bang on. You can't help but  to be impressed with the guitar and harp playing here as well as whole execution of the songs. This is one tight band. The Rhythm Shakers - VooDoo 2014

It's kinda hard to believe it's been over 5 years(2009) since  Los Angeles based The Rhythm Shakers released  their killer debut album, “Flipsville”. In 2011 the band followed up their debut with the single"Love Spilled Across The Floor" and then the "Shake Your Hips" single in 2012.  Over time the band's raw and lethal brand of rockabilly/rock n roll has managed to attract a pretty strong  and ever growing fan base. Hell this is a group that has a rep for killing it live and been straight up kool. All which brings us to their new sophomore album "Voodoo" and let's just say this puppy is raw, rough, full of attitude and just damn good! Clocking in with 14 tracks (11 originals) this is serious rock n roll/rockabilly that times oozes the blues. Basically they stick to what they do best but  here they kick it up a  few notches. Highlights include:"Home Wrecker", " Make Me Say", "What If I Said" and " Rather Be Alone".
It may have been a long time coming but " VooDoo" is a stellar album  and well worth the wait. The Rhythm Shakers just keep getting better with every release. Let's  just say it's definitely  one of the better albums to come out this year. Highly recommended !   https://www.facebook.com/TheRhythmShakers/timeline?ref=page_internal

Lew Lewis and The Twilight Trio - Red Hot Baby

Since forming only a couple of years ago (late 2012)  Lew Lewis and The Twilight Trio have done a  solid job getting their name out there.First they quickly put out a demo cd,played a whack of gigs ,developed a good rep  and then went to Western Star Studios to work on their debut album. One thing you have to know about these guys is that there is some serious pedigree(Jack Rabbit Slim  and Rocket 88) here and that sure isn't going to hurt .The band's debut album  "Red Hot Baby" has hit the streets and it's one smokin' fine disc that is hard to resist. This puppy sways back and fourth from rockabilly to the blues and comes off as a kool rock n roll  album. There is an underlining vibe here that you just can't shake.Highlights include: " Stroll Earthquake","Crazy Little Mama","Fool Around" and "How Could You Be So Mean".
Red Hot Baby should and will appeal to way more than just the billy crowd.Hell I've already  heard  and read some blues aficionados are digging it .This is one album that more than covers the bases and it's damn good too boot.Recommended!   https://www.facebook.com/LewLewisAndTheTwilightTrio?ref=profile
