If your looking for high octane  rockabilly, the Dutch rockabilly trio Slapback Johnny will definitely be the shot you need. These cats have been dishing out a sweet stew of "red hot rockabilly" mixed in with some jump blues and straight up rock n roll since 2012. With 3 damn stout singles under their belts ,fans of the band have been calling out for an album .While the wait is over and the band has dropped their killer debut; "Hit Me Up" and man they are laying down the law. This puppy crashes down the door with 13 original killer tracks. From high impact rockabilly to driving jump blues ,swing and rock n roll, this is one thrill ride you want to join in on .Only once, on "Last Night" do they lift the pedal. We also get all but one of  their  previous released tracks.  Highlights include: "You've Been Told", "One Last Shot", "Bombshell",Ball n Chain" and "Hit Me Up".

Slapback Johnny really nail it here and as a result "Hit Me Up" is one of the years best albums It's a powerful outing that's totally enjoyable, fun and leaves you wanting more.Highly recommended!!!

The Tumblin' Go Go's - A Living Sickness 2017

When it comes to neo rockabilly / psychobilly groups ,The Tumblin' Go Go's take a back seat to no one. Sure that may not be as well known as some of the big guns out there but don't let that fool you. These cats have blazed their own path over the years and as a result they have  one hell of a stellar catalog that will color you impressed. That said the band has dropped their latest and most surprising effort yet. With  "A Living Sickness"(the band's 8th album),they slam on the brakes, really mix it up and rip out of the box.We get the usual neo- rockabilly/psychobilly with flares of surf, the  blues and shades of country ,but that's not all. This time out the band really defies the genre lines.Throw in a whack of sound effects, some low-fi ,some psychedelic and even more blues. This is dirty and dark, yet freakin' damn kool. At times it seems erratic but it draws you in and maintains your interest.Highlights include: "Blood Red Eyes", "Shitkickers", "Snake Demon" and "Salvation".

The Tumblin' Go Go's have taken a big gamble with " A Living Sickness" .As a result this puppy is eclectic as well as refreshing and daring. If your willing to take a chance, the pay off is big. Highly recommended!

Batmobile - Brand New Blisters 2017

Batmobile the name says it all, hell they are the band that sealed the deal for many people(including me) when it comes to psychobilly. This legendary Dutch band has a rich and impressive catalogue that few band's can touch. The band's last full album was 1997's "Welcome To Planet Cheese" so when word of a new album came out in mid 2016 the buzz was pretty big.Well that new album "Brand New Blisters" is about to explode into the public and it's nothing short of a knock out punch. This big dog snarls, bites and doesn't back down.Clocking in at around 31 minutes with 15 tracks means Batmobile is all business here.Right from a fast and familiar start to the last track this puppy lives up to all the buzz. From psychobilly to maximum rock n roll to hints of garage and even a couple of ballads, this is one damn stout. There are no bad tracks here so the bang for your buck is big.Highlights include: " Batmomaniacs","Never Gonna Stop", "It's Rock & Roll", " Apeface" and "Rock & Roll and Alcohol".
Batmobile have been around more than 30 years now  and unlike many of their counterparts they have stayed together with no membership changes(it's still the original lineup) and have never made big claims about themselves. So respect is do .If anything  "Brand New Blisters" shows they haven't lost a step and they still have what it takes.Believe me there is still a lot of gas in the tank. This is a fun, kinetic and killer album that is a must have!  Highly recommended!!!

Milwaukee Wildmen - Bloodmoon Shadow 2016

Long time dutch psychos  The Milwaukee Wildmen have always been an uncompromising hard rockin' psychobilly band .With a fistful of damn good releases these cats have made a pretty good name for themselves.Yet they remain an underrated band by many (especially in North America) , which is kinda mind boggling.Their last release, the stout mini-album "Blood On The Wall" was back in 2013.Well there back, this time on Diablo Records with the hard driving  " Bloodmoon Shadow". We get 11 tracks that will light a fire under your butt .As usual these cats deliver a furious brew  full of  billy, kool riffs, hard rock n roll and attitude. This is one album that has  an impressive swagger about it but then again if your familiar with them you kinda expect that.Highlights include: " Devils Tail", "Psychos Like You" , " Die Alone" and "Dead Heros".

The  Milwaukee Wildmen show no signs of rust here and "Bloodmoon Shadow" is arguably their best effort yet. It's well produced ,sounds great, has an impact and  stays with you. This puppy  "cuts the mustard" as they say and that's pretty damn good.Highly recommended!!!

@ The Skiffle Billy Cocktail - The Centrifugal Charisma of the Cowboy Cosmos & the Collapse of Charlatan Chaos 2016

@The Skiffle Billy Cocktail  just may be one of the most unique bands out there. Hell you be hard pressed to describe their sound. Someone described them as " Hillbilly Rock’olla Skiffle Rag". What is for sure is that these kats probably aren't in your wheelhouse but man their damn good and given the chance you'll probably dig them.  Back in 2012 they released the stellar debut  "Billy Budha &The Crazy Curse Of The Red Mustang" an album you should check out.Now their back with the sophomore effort " The Centrifugal Charisma of the Cowboy Cosmos & the Collapse of Charlatan Chaos".  Once again they defy convention with a mix bag of 13 tracks  of kool styles and sounds. From country, roots, rock, blues, doowop and a whack more.Throw in some great harmonies and the result is one damn good infectious romp that surly will grow on you. This is one of those albums that has you tapping your foot and you don't realize it. Highlights include: "Patchouly Punk" , "My Lasergun", "Your Blue Day Survival" and "Rocco Blanco"
Chances are  "The Centrifugal Charisma of the Cowboy Cosmos & the Collapse of Charlatan Chaos" will go under the wire and that's really a shame.  @The Skiffle Billy Cocktail  are a pretty kool band  that blaze their own path and this is one damn good album that you should give a chance .You won't be disappointed.Highly recommended !!

The Surfaders - A Greater Silence 2015

Back in 2012 The Surfaders released the mighty fine " Dragstrip Murder Mystery"and it caught more than a few surf fans off guard. The band found itself firmly planted on the surf map and quickly became one of the  surf bands to watch.Their blend of traditional ,spaghetti, surf noir with a smearing of punk was and is refreshing and kinda kool. Now in 2015 there back ,better and still have a few surprises too boot. The band's sophomore effort  "A Greater Silence"  ups the game and changes direction. This puppy washes ashore with 12 original tunes that cover the usual ground of surf but this time out the band heads more into  spaghetti western territory. Not only that we get vocals and not just on a couple of tracks but 5.The Vocals will throw most but don't let that fool you this is still really good surf. Highlights include: " Sarpha", "Little Johnny from Hangman's Tree", "Dust from the Sun" and the killer " Sharkbait"
The Surfaders aren't a band that's afraid to change it up and push the boundaries .With "A Greater Silence"  they prove that. This is a damn good album that manages to surprise, challenge you and leaves you wondering where  The Surfaders go next. Recommended!!
