The Sirocco Brothers - Come On In 2017

Not much is known about The Sirocco Bros. but one thing for sure is that they are simply a killer band(duo) that's all about the music. Many folks have wasted a lot time trying to figure out who these cats but let's face it,the fact that they very mysterious is kinda refreshing in this age of information over load. That said their dark brew of rockabilly, blues and roots is at times stunning, always haunting and stays with you. It's almost guaranteed that if you give them a listen, you'll be hooked. With a whack of stellar singles ,a couple of ep's and yes 2 albums ("Sirocco" and "Shake") under their belts they have become and rightfully so a big deal to many. The band's(duo) latest offering " Come On In" only cements their growing reputation. This puppy is a loaded gun of 16  powerful tracks that stay the course. So you know we get the usual dark, unique, authentic  mix of rockabilly, rock n roll  and blues. Also once again we get their latest singles and some new songs here. There really isn't a weak track to be found Highlights include: "Dead Bandidos","Bop", "The Drifter" (with Cousin Morgan)with , "Alcatraz" and "Hoo Doo"(with Alice Jayne).

The Sirocco Bros. have delivered another winner with "Come On In"and it's easily one of the best releases of 2017.This is very stout and impressive outing that is a must have.Highly recomended !!!!

Voodoo Swing - To You My Friend 2016

A lot has been said about Voodoo Swing  over the years ,good and bad.For some they are not rockabilly enough for others they aren't bluesy enough. Some would say it's been almost a no win situation but at the end of the day they have been  and are a killer band. This is a band that has always blurred the lines, playing the music they wanted to and loving it (kudos to them). With 7 really strong albums under their belt , the last in early 2013,then later that year  the band decided to pack it in. Well you can't keep a good band down and they have reformed and dropped the album " To You My Friend ". This baby struts in with 11 tracks that  are surprisingly refreshing and diverse . This isn't a rockabilly album, hell for the most part it's a killer blues fueled ride with an awesome vibe. There is some rockabilly ,some honky tonk, country, rock and more roots. We get horns, key boards and even the mandolin here. One has to be impressed with the range of ground they cover here.Highlights include: " You Ain't Doing Me Right", "To You My Friend","Chokin' The Chicken " and the kool "So Fine".

You gotta give it to Voodoo Swing not only are they back but also "To You My Friend " is pretty impressive. One thing for sure is these cats are damn good and have the balls to prove it.Highly recommended

Punch Drunk Cabaret - Electrik Steam Show 2016

The voice comes on and says "tickets please, enjoy the show" and you just know all is good because  Punch Drunk Cabaret are about to step up. Hell the kings of "Steampunk swing " always deliver and aren't afraid to throw a few surprises at you along the way.The band is now back with it's 3rd album "Electrik Steam Show" and this time out they really flex their muscles.Sure it's a bit eclectic and we  get the mix bag of roots, rockabilly and steampunk but it's surprisingly ramped up here. This is easily PDC most rockin' and hardest album yet.We get 10 tracks and an intro that really bare that out and it's a pretty diverse too boot.Highlights include: "Halos and Horns", "Meat on the Bones", " Hell Etc", "Voodoo Vodka Stomp" and "Detonation Time"
Punch Drunk Cabaret continue to make kool and diverse rock n roll. With "Electrik Steam Show" they back that up.This may not be for everyone but when given a chance it will win you over,it's that good .Yes it's a killer rock n roll album and PDC still can't be put into a box.You have to like that. Recommended!!!

Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers - Rockabilly Playground 2013

Texas  rockabilly roots rockers Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers are a band that really does have a ton of cred. For over 10 years now they have been  playing their brand of Americana and rockabilly and in the process have developed a pretty significant following. With 3 albums and an ep out as well as some chart success in the U.S.you could say things are going smooth. In late 2012 the band announced their 4th album by using a Kickstarter campaign  and that the new album would be a children's rockabilly album .Talk about catching people off guard.Well the results are in  and " Rockabilly Playground",the bands fourth album just may surprise you.Sure it's a kid's album but it's also a pretty good rockabilly.Put it this way; lyrics for the kids ( good ones at that) and music for the rest of us.We get 10 tracks here that make for an enjoyable listen ranging from straight up rockabilly to flashes of country.Highlights include:" No Rules","Naptime Is No Fun","
I Remember 2 + 2" and the tittle track "Rockabilly Playground". This sure isn't going to blow your socks off but "Rockabilly Playground "will definetly grow on you .Check it out, your little ones will love you for it!https://www.facebook.com/rubydeeandthesnakehandlers?ref=br_tf    http://www.rubydeemusic.com/
