The Hoodoo Tones – Here To Stay 2018



 The Hoodoo Tones made quite the splash back in 2016 with their pretty stout debut  album "Confessions Of A Loner". Not only was it a critical success, but rumor had it that Rhythm Bomb couldn't keep it in stock. It's easy to see why; these cats play damn catchy and refreshing rockabilly / rock n roll. The band's latest offering and sophomore effort "Here To Stay" is one sweet and rockin'  slab that nails it.Clocking in with 11 originals and 1 cover  of wild modern rockabilly with a damn healthy and equal  shot of straight up rock n roll. This time out they  raise the bar and rev it up.Hell for the most part this is one urgent and refreshing ride .They throw one slow burner and a country track just to mix it up and keep you on your toes.Highlights include: " Here To Stay" , " The Hunter", " Ernie The Virgin", "Do It For The Road" and "Suicide Boogie"

   
   The Hoodoo Tones score a direct hit here with " Here To Stay". They have stepped up their game  and are serving notice. So pay attention. Highly recommended!

Slapback Johnny – Hit Me Up 2018



  If your looking for high octane  rockabilly,the Dutch rockabilly trio Slapback Johnny will definitely be the shot you need.These cats have been dishing out a sweet stew of "red hot rockabilly" mixed in with some jump blues and straight up rock n roll since 2012. With 3 damn stout singles under their belts ,fans of the band have been calling out for an album .While the wait is over and the band has dropped their killer debut; "Hit Me Up" and man they are laying down the law.This puppy crashes down the door with 13 original killer tracks.From high impact rockabilly to driving jump blues ,swing and rock n roll, this is one thrill ride you want to join in on .Only once, on "Last Night" do they lift the pedal.We also get all but one of  their  previous released tracks.  Highlights include: "You've Been Told", "One Last Shot", "Bombshell",Ball n Chain" and "Hit Me Up".
       
      Slapback Johnny really nail it here and as a result "Hit Me Up" is one of the years best albums It's a powerful outing that's totally enjoyable, fun and leaves you wanting more.Highly recommended!!!

Crystal & Runnin’ Wild – The Midnight Creature 2018



        There is no doubt that Crystal & Runnin’ Wild are a top shelf outfit. Despite laying down some damn kool rockabilly/ roots music, you just know that there is much more to these cats. Their bopping  cover of "Search and Destroy" bears that out.Well now they are upping the anti and shifting gears with their second album; "The Midnight Creature".This time out they are throwing down one impressive hand  that changes the game. Punching in with 13 tracks that range from frantic rockabilly to garage to straight up rock n roll and more. They also throw in a couple of slower numbers, just to keep you on your toes.It's a stout and  kinetic affair  that's impossible to resist.Highlights include: "Wish You Misery", "I Love My Monsters","Deadly Day", "Jezebel" and "  The Midnight Creature".

     
   Crystal & Runnin’ Wild  are flexing their muscles and shaking things up with "The Midnight Creature" . It's ballsy move  and damn impressive too boot. Highly recommended!!

A.J. & The Rockin Trio - Rockin' The Blues 2017




It's been just over 3 years since A.J.& The Rockin Trio  burst onto the scene and since then it's been all good. Their 2015 self- titled is damn stout and they followed it up with the stellar and killer album "Howlin' At The Moon" in 2016. This is one rockabilly outfit that will color you  impressed.Not standing still they have hit back with another winner " Rockin' The Blues" and this puppy brings it on.We get 10 originals and 2 covers  that will have you up and  shakin'. From straight up rockabilly to rockabilly blues this puppy rocks with confidence. They even  throw in a little trombone action,some tinges of country  and have Coral Lee step in to sing on one track. All this  adds an extra punch to the affair.Highlights include: "Moonshine Boogie", "Rockabilly Fever", "Done Me Wrong" and "All Day and Night".
       A.J.& The Rockin Trio have really delivered the goods with "Rockin' The Blues". This is one hungry and serious  band that keeps getting better with every release. Highly recommended!

The Margraves - Primitive Beat 2017



 Roy Kay has been in some pretty killer bands but none kooler than The Margraves. Back in 2014 they released their debut "On The Warpath" a sweet and stellar album chalked full of rock n roll goodness. Since then these kats  have been winning over fans with their brand of 50's inspired  rock n roll that is catchy as hell, very seductive and  hard to resist.Now in 2017 they are back, officially now as a  four piece and with their sophomore album,"Primitive Beat".This time out we get 14 killer originals that stay the course yet still manage to up the game. At times it's wild,moody ,hard driving and also sexy.This is one puppy that hits a groove  and stays there making it a sweet ride from start to finish.Highlights include: "She Shakes", "Not Guilty", "Primitive Beat", "La Matadora" and "Black Widow".
         
   Bottom line on " Primitive Beat" is that it's, flat out a winner. This is freakin' kool  rock n roll that leaves you wanting more.Highly recommended!!!

The Hoodoo Tones - Confessions Of A Loner 2016


Hailing from Lille,France comes the young guns  known as The Hoodoo Tones.Since 2012 these cats have been tearing it up with their brand of  modern rockabilly/ rock n roll.They have earned a rep as a killer tight outfit and have become a band to check out.That said the band's debut album," Confessions Of A Loner "  on Rhythm Bomb Records  is now out and it will only cement their growing reputation. Punching in with 11 originals and 2 covers ,this puppy is one solid debut effort.This is 50's inspired rock n roll / rockabilly with a whack of modern flare.The band deals a hand full of rockers and even a slow cooker that maintain a kool vibe through out the album. Highlights include: "Northern Style', " Watch Your Mouth", " Miss Lizzy"and " The One". 
    
 Overall  "Confessions Of A Loner" is a pretty strong album that's well produced and  sounds great  by a band that is on top of their game.You're gonna want to check this puppy out. Recommended!

Maryann & The Tri-Tones - Kitten Walk 2016


Since forming back in  2011 Maryann & The Tri-Tones  have been a band that has people talking and it's all good. From their demo recordings to the "Honey Baby" single to their excellent  debut  album "Supersonic Gal" this is one rockabilly band that isn't afraid to mix it up and still delievers the goods.The outfit's latest offering " Kitten Walk " is now out and again it's another winner.Clocking in with 11 originals and 2 covers of rockabilly, 50's rock n roll and shades of country.Hell we even get a little western swing too boot. From slow and sultry  to strollers and rockers, this puppy changes gears and aims to please.Highlights include: "Dance With My Baby ", " Got You On My Mind", " Don't Touch" and "Hold Me Tight"
       Over all "Kitten Walk" is a kool and strong effort that is  Maryann & The Tri-Tones best effort yet.It's what you expect  and more from these cats .Recommended!!!

The Ramblin Bandits - On A Hill 2016



  No one can accuse The Ramblin Bandits of pussy footing around.These cats seem to have come screaming out of nowhere real fast ,hell this trio hasn't been around a year yet and they have done a demo ,signed with  Rhythm Bomb Records,put out a single and have an album dropping .This outfit is loaded with pedigree and delivers some serious  killer rockabilly. The band's debut album " On A Hill " is one smokin' hot platter of 13 hip shaking tracks of rockabilly/rock n roll. Right from the start this puppy hits the gas and and doesn't let up.This is  hungry rockabilly that has a sense of urgency about it  .Highlights include: " Bank Robber Joe", "Talk Dirty", " Getto Bash" and "Why Why Why".
   
       There isn't a bad track to be found here and "On A Hill" is more that just a stout debut .This is flat out good and a must have. The Ramblin Bandits have delivered a knock out punch here and when you get up your going to hit the repeat button.Highly Recommended!!

Kieron McDonald - Shake That Thing 2016


If your looking for top flight rockabilly/ rock n roll ,Kieron McDonald may be your man. From his start back in 1997 with The Flatfoot Shakers to his work with The Roundup Boys and The Hi-Tones to  his solo work, this cat has consistently been top shelf. Playing "authentic" rockabilly that adds rock n roll ,country and hillbilly into the mix and still sounds fresh .That said Kieron McDonald's  latest offering (his 4th solo album) "Shake That Thing' is a flat out winner.Clocking in with 13 originals and 1 cover of strong and killer rockabilly. Again we get a mix of rockabilly/rocknroll with shades of  hillbilly and  country .What we have here is a case of having really strong material and letting a stellar band work it, you just know the results are going to be damn good.From start to finish this is one sweet ride.Highlights include: "Rockabilly High" , "I'm The King Of The Road", " A Little Love" and " Janet Leigh"
    Kieron McDonald  has again delivered another top notch album with "Shake That Thing". You should diffidently snag this puppy up .Highly recommended!!

Vince & The Sun Boppers - Gone For Lovin' 2016


 Italian cats  Vince & The Sun Boppers have only been around for a couple years as a group but it's one that's stacked with some major pedigree.In some cases that pedigree when mixed can fall flat,however here the results are very good. The band released a killer 4 song ep (2014 on Sleazy Records) that showed that this is an outfit that can deliver some serious rockabilly that's also fun to boot. The band is now on Rhythm Bomb Records and have just dropped their debut album " Gone For Lovin' ". This is one impressive disc that comes in with 12 original tracks of authentic rockabilly  that will have you shakin'. If  your looking for a pure  50's rockabilly/rock n roll sound it doesn't get any better than this.Hell it sounds like it could be on the original Sun label.Highlights include: "Devil Eyes", " Black Haired Woman", "Ooh My Baby" and " Dance With Sally"
   
 There are no dogs on "Gone For Lovin' " ,it's just solid rockabilly from start to finish. This is well written,produced and executed rockabilly that will color you impressed .Highly recommended!

Mississippi Queen - Oh Yeah! 2016


Over the years the long standing Croatian outfit Mississippi Queen have become one of the top European rockabilly acts and rightfully so. These kats site firmly at the corner of rockabilly and country.No matter which way they turn one thing for sure is that it's always authentic and pretty sweet to boot.The band's last album was the impressive "Rock-a-Billy Heaven Bound" back in 2008.So a new album has been a long time coming.Well the wait is over and yes it was worth the wait.The latest effort (their 5th), "Oh yeah!" is their most rockin' yet.This  puppy struts in with 13 originals and one cover of kool authentic rockabilly and country. These kats have always managed to strike a good balance but this time out they lean a little  more toward rockabilly/ rock n roll and as a result this puppy at times rocks  damn good.Highlights include: " Ol Black Busted Guitar", "Oh Yeah" , "Everybody Have A Ball" and "Mississippi Queen"
         Overall this is another very strong effort by a band that knows how to deliver the goods.These kats still have it and really seem to be on top of their game here. Hell "Oh Yeah!" may just be the band's best yet and that's more than enough  to add it to your wish list.Recommended !!

Twisted Rod - Boozin' and Boppin' 2016


There is no doubt  Twisted Rod is one serious contender,hell their "authentic rockabilly has been winning fans over for a few years now.The band's debut album from 2014,"Bring It On Home" is one smoking hot  album that firmly put them on the map.Now there back with the sophomore effort "Boozin' and Boppin' " and it's another winner.This puppy deals out 13 slices (10 originals) of dangerously fun rockabilly/rock n roll.These kats  know what they do  best and stick with it. The result is an album with a  pretty kool groove that ranges  from a kool slow tempo number to all out rockers.That should come as no surprise  as we are talking about Twisted Rod here.Highlights include: "Booze Bop"," Get On The Train",  the instrumental track "Tempest" and "Rattle Shakin' Mama".
       Overall  "Boozin' and Boppin' " is very an enjoyable album that is stronger than the band's debut. If anything this shows that these kats are damn good and they just keep getting better.Highly Recommended .

B And The Bops - All Tangled Up!


 B And The Bops have managed to grab people's  attention even since 2008 when 2 of their songs landed on the "Crockabilly" compilation. Their brand of authentic rockabilly  and 50's rock n roll  is not only impressive but it's also fun..Add a couple of singles and a kool  debut album, "Don't Stop The Rock Bop" and these kats have developed a pretty good rep.The bands sophomore album, " All Tangled Up!" will only  cement their reputation.This puppy clocks in at just under 30 minutes with 15 tracks that nail it.We get hit with some serious fun  rockabilly /rock n roll that's just what the doctor order.Even the slower tracks bop pretty good. No messing around here folks this is short and sweet and you gotta like that .Highlights include: " Tangled Boogie" , " Spitzmaus ", " Breathin' Down My Neck (fast)" and " Hot To Trot "
         Overall  "All Tangled Up!" is the best release so far from these kats and you just know there's more too come.This is sharp, well done rockabilly by a band to keep an eye on. Ati Edge and the Shadowbirds - Old Cars, Tattoos, Bad Girls and Wild Guitars 2015

In 2007 Ati Edge of The Silver Shine  hatched the side project call Ati Edge and The Shadowbirds  and it's still going strong today.Basically this is his billy band or as some say Silver Shine 2 and it's a damn good one   Hell over the years the outfit has developed a solid rep and in some corners, considered the better band  of the two. So far they have released one  album and a couple of eps,(all worth checking out) with the last ep  released in 2013.Now in 2015 the band's long awaited sophomore album is out and "Old Cars, Tattoos, Bad Girls and Wild Guitars" is  pretty stout. This puppy checks in with 11 tracks of rockabilly/ rock n roll  that has some muscle and also is damn catchy. At times this comes off like dirty ,garage rock n roll  but it  really doesn't stray far  from it's rockabilly base and that's a good thing.Highlights include : " Baddest Girl In Town","Kustom Kulture Baby", "Old School Inks" and "Old Cars, Tattoos, Bad Girls And Wild Guitars"
                The album's title "Old Cars, Tattoos, Bad Girls and Wild Guitars" really tells you straight up what your getting here and it's also their best release to date.This is one disc that delivers and one that  is full of kool rockabilly /rock n roll that will grow on you. Carolina And Her Rhythm Rockets - By My Side 2015


Back in 2013 Carolina & Her Rhythm Rockets appeared  to come out of the blue with a stunning debut album.Fact was the band formed in 2011 and  had developed a rep as a killer live act.However their debut left many wondering if their sophomore effort would be nearly as good.While the wait is over with "By My Side" and there diffidently is no sophomore jinx happening here. We get 13 tracks here that run the gauntlet  from straight up rockabilly to the blues to  R&b to  rock n roll ,some surf and even a little shading of country. This is one smooth and sexy ride that delivers in spades. Highlights include: " Lift Off", " Jungle King" ," Can't Let You Go " and " Hole In My Heart".

The Rip'em Ups - Killswitch! 2015


The Rip'em Ups are one band you can't accuse of been dull and boring.Since 2010 these kats have been blowing away audiences with their straight up brand of 50's inspired rock n roll.They have been described as savage, explosive and energetic.This is a band that truly lives up to their name. The band's long awaited debut album "Killswitch!" backs up all the hype you may have heard about them. Hell this puppy kicks the door in then kicks your ass.We get 12 tracks of real rock n roll that make for one very kinetic thrill ride that will leave you wanting more.You could say this is a twin guitar and sax attack. Highlights include: " Spitfire", "
Baby Doll", "In N Out Shout" and " I Wanna Love You".

The Boners - Hell Yeah 2014


Since 2009 The Boners have been laying down some pretty kool, greasy,bluesy rockabilly.It's no stretch to say this a modern rockabilly band that loves the blues.The band deservedly managed to grab some major  attention in early 2014 when out of the blue Wild Records signed them.Well then things got very interesting:an album was signed sealed and then not delivered to Wild Records.The band then jumped ship to Rhythm Bomb and the wait began and now in 2015  that album is finally out and it definitely  has been worth the wait.Talk about been loaded, "Hell Yeah" crashes in with force,we get 12 original revved up tracks of modern rockabilly that deliver in spades.From straight up rockers to rockabilly blues to even some shades of country,this puppy nails it  and will have you up and at it as they say.There is even some killer harp action too boot.Highlights include: "Muchacha!", "The Train Song", "Lockdown" and "Baby Shaker"

Twisted Rod - Bring It On Home


Considered to be one of the best bands from the Czech Republic,Twisted Rod is just flat out good.Since 2009 these kats have revved up and rocked out with their "authentic" and energetic rockabilly.Along the way they have created some genuine buzz and have ended up on Rhythm Bomb Records.When the band announced they were going into the Black Shack Recordings Studio's to record their first album ,it kinda of confirmed  the fact that this is a serious outfit.  Well that debut album has dropped and it's called "Bring It On Home". We get 15 tracks  of some pretty kool and killer rockabilly that basically  for the most part  push  the pedal to the metal. The band throws in 2 covers, a kool blues number and an interesting slow burner just to mix things up. Highlights include: "I Dig Rock", "When I Watch You", "Twisted Rod" and "I Love You My Way".

Marc & The Wild Ones - She Put A Spell On Me 2014




You gotta give it to Marc & The Wild Ones since blasting onto the scene in 2011 they have continually been damn impressive.Right from the get go these young upstarts put out a killer debut album "The Rockin' Beat Of" and have earned a rep as a kool and  must see band. Their brand of rockabilly/ rock n roll is fresh and nothing short of infectious. If there was any doubt about how good they are it can be put to rest .The release of  "She Put A Spell On Me" proves these kats are for real.No sophomore jinx here as this puppy delivers the goods.We get 13 originals and 1 cover that firmly stay on the rockabilly/rock n roll path .You could say that this is just what you would expect but this time out the song writing is much stronger and  more consistent.Also the band shows some restraint at times(a good thing) and that helps to put the album over .Highlights include: "Be Boppin' Baby ","Little Ann","Real Rockin Baby " and "I Love My Baby".
