The Delta Bombers - Pressure and Time 2018

It's hard to believe The Delta Bombers have been around ten years now.In that time they have proven to be one of the hardest working outfits out there and  one of the best rock n roll bands too boot.At their heart, they are a blues band but the band's strength is their ability to lace the blues with everything from rockabilly, garage, country to straight up rock and more. So far they have 3 outstanding albums plus a live one under their belts and now you can add " Pressure and Time"to the list. Coming in with 9 originals and 3 covers that again run the gamut. This time out they really  up the country, throw in  a surprising cover of "Sympathy For The Devil" and still manage to serve up a whack of revved up dirty and kool rockabilly/ rock n roll. Hell this is one diverse and impressive effort. Then again if your familiar with the band ,you just know it's got to be top shelf. Highlights include : "Jump Back Baby", "Let Her Go", " Pressure and Time", "Hi- Strung Ramble" and "Good Disguise"

Once again The Delta Bombers  deliver the goods with " Pressure and Time". They are in top form here and can still surprise. This is one kool album that will color you impressed. Highly Recommended!!

The Tsunamibots - The Crushing 2016

From parts unknown(some say Vermont) come The Tsunamibots,  a robotic surf machine that's bound determined to crush the human race. Just saying but make no mistake this is a killer surf outfit that knows what smash mouth surf is.With 2 stout eps under their belts and a fair size following on the eastern side of North America  it has become time to step up their Robotic Revolution. That said the outfit's debut album has now dropped and it's a dewsy.Simply called " The Crushing" and believe me it lives up to it's name. This puppy smashes in with 11 tracks of robotic surf. From a little aggressive traditional to surf punk to smash mouth this hits hard and fast. They even throw in some lyrics on a couple of tracks just so you know this is a robotic uprising.Over all it's powerful, has a sense of urgency and is a whack of fun.High lights include: "Automaton", " Sold by Jawas", "Robotic Meltdown", " Theme Code" and " Short Term Internal Memory Failure".

Bottom line is that "The Crushing" may not be for everyone but if you like your surf rough, loud or even in your face this is diffidently for you .This puppy rocks and you gotta like that. Recommended!!

Tiger Army - V 2016

Love them or hate them,Tiger Army have always been an important psychobilly band.Once a unifying force  in the psychobilly scene, they became a polarizing one with the 2007 release of "Music From Regions Beyond". By changing up the band's musical sound and direction they lost a whack of their old fans and gained their wrath but at the same time grew  a bigger fan base.I say all this because I personally have never been a fan but do prefer their first couple of albums,so you know were this review comes from. That said the band's new album  "V" has been 9 years in the making and probably won't change the way most view the band. This puppy comes in with a prelude and 12 tracks  that  make for an interesting mix bag.We do get a little psychobilly ,some country ,shades of punk and at times an early/ mid  60's rock n roll vibe. The album starts off hard and fast  but don't let that fool you. It's almost like Nick 13(the only original member) is giving into the old fan base. From there the album with the exception of  a couple of tracks  could be a  Nick 13  solo album .Highlights are "Devil Lurks On The Road ","Prelude Ad Victoriam", "Firefall" and the catchy " Prisoner Of The Night"

All said and done "V" will probably be  Tiger Army's most successful album so far but it's also their most mainstream effort .It has a few moments  and let's just leave it there.

The Whiskey Daredevils - Nashville Surprise 2015

Whether you love them or hate them  The Whiskey Daredevils   are one ass kickin' band that has always delivered the goods.Hell for over a decade now these kats have been  mixing it up and blowing up genre lines all while pissing off more than a few purist and growing their fan base at the same time . Too some they are cowpunk, alt country, rockabilly to others they are punkabilly ,Americana and  even hard rock to some(you get the picture). The band's ninth album;  "Nashville Surprise" has just been unleashed and let's just say they aren't pulling any punches here. This beast smashes in with 12 original that for the most part drive pretty hard, have attitude and really do impress. You don't have to be a fan to dig this. All the elements that make this band kool are here, only this time out there seems to be a harder more rock n roll feel and that really adds to the album. Highlights: include: " Always","Devil's Grand Marquis", "Milwaukee 8" and "Tuscaloosa Dagger".
You gotta give it to The Whiskey Daredevils they have always blazed their own path and done it well. With "Nashville Surprise" they have delivered their best effort yet .This is fueled injected rock n roll  that has more than enough meat on the bone.Recommended !!  http://www.whiskeydaredevils.com/news/  https://www.facebook.com/Whiskey-Daredevils-48998473360/timeline/

The Madeira - Ancient Winds 2015

If you don't know who The Madeira  are you should.Hell they are arguably one of the best bands in any genre on planet.Sure it's high praise but when you consider the fact that this a band that constantly raises the bar  and is respected by a whack of musicians, you just know their good. With every album they get better and  gain more attention.Too many this is the surf band that is going to "break out" and have mainstream success. The band's 5th album  "Ancient Winds" has been hotly anticipated and rightfully so. This puppy washes ashore with 12 originals  and 1 cover of instrumental surf  that deliver the goods. Again the band pushes the boundaries of the surf genre and  what one thinks surf should be .Dragging influences from traditional surf to world beat , " Ancient Winds"  picks up where  "Tribal Fires" left off  and the result is a truly stunning album.Highlights include:" Journey to the Center of the Surf", "Here Be Dragons", " Caravela" and "Hail, Poseidon!" .

This time out TheMadeira seem more driven, like a band on mission and as a result "Ancient Winds" is their best effort yet.Simply put ; this is top shelf  by one of the best bands out there and you gotta ask yourself ,just how good can these guys get. Highly recommended!!!   https://www.facebook.com/themadeira/timeline

Boss Fink - R.P.M. 2015

On the strength of one ep,"Finksville" and a whack of pedigree many fans of surf music are expecting big things from  Boss Fink.Since lighting up the So-Cal  scene a couple years ago these kats have earned a solid rep and have become kinda a buzz band .Their brand of hotrod ,drag and rat fink inspired surf is just flat out kool. The band's debut album has been highly anticipated  and comes with  some high expectations. That said, the debut is now here and  "R.P.M" definitely delivers in spades. This beast  smashes ashore with 15 killer tracks(13 new) of first wave  inspired surf that more than holds it's own. When you hear about hot rod, rat fink inspired surf  this is what there talking about.  From start to finish this is one powerful and kinetic ride.No dogs here ,it's all more than good.Standout tracks include: " Pontiac Chief", "Motorvixen" , " Boss Fink Twist" and "5th Horseman" which first appeared in 2013.

Hard Six - Haunted Ride 2015

When it comes to the band Hard Six  you really never what your going to get. After all this isn't your run of the mill punkabilly band. These kats  probably  really don't care about genre lines and that makes them a better band.Too some they are a kick ass rockabilly band too others, punkabilly or rock n roll  and even a country band.Take your pick they do it all. With 2 pretty good albums under their belts they have managed to crave out a solid and growing fan base. The outfits latest release "Haunted Ride " is damn solid and diverse, with each track sounding different  .This puppy slides in with 10 tracks that infuse country, rockabilly ,punkabilly and rock n roll. The result is one kool and silky ride and as a result there  is a really neat vibe going on here.Highlights include: "Rockabilly Rumble", "Heartbreaker", "Wip Wop" and "Haunted Ride".
Hard Six are self described "punkabilly rockers",well  "Haunted Ride" proves again they are way more than that .This is a confident outfit that's not afraid to mix it up and still delivers the goods .Recommended !

The Desperados - Won't Be Broken 2015

Back in 2011 a group of young upstarts known as The Desperados made a big splash with the released of their debut album,"On the Rampage". Here was a young and exciting band that managed to deliver a kool and killer album that really did have a whack of people talking about it.Being on Wild Records didn't hurt, but their rock n roll/rockabilly had a freshness and hard edge that you couldn't help but notice.Well after 4 years the long awaited sophomore album, "Won't Be Broken"  is finally out and The Desperados definitely deliver the goods. This time out we get 14 originals of stout and dangerous rock n roll/rockabilly that still comes off damn fresh .Highlights include: " Gave Her My Heart (Now I Want It Back)"," She's My Lover","Two Woman",and "Caught You In A Lie"

Dawn Shipley & the Sharp Shooters - Shoulda Known Better 2015

Dawn Shipley & the Sharp Shooters have earned they're fair share of kudos over years .This is one band that's all about the music period. Playing rockabilly to honky-tonk and hillbilly  to 50's rock n roll and more they have developed a pretty fair size and loyal fan base. With only 2 albums out (the last one came out in 2006) and a few singles, with last years jazzy and kool "Voodoo You" been the latest, fans have had to endure long waits .Well now the wait is over for the outfit's 3rd album,"Shoulda Known Better"and it's one very solid album.Clocking in with 11 tracks of mainly rockabilly that at times isn't afraid to drift a little  into country, honky tonk, western swing and jazz.Highlights include:" Little Too Late","Voodoo You", "
Don't Want Your Lies" and "Shoulda Known Better"
Dawn Shipley & the Sharp Shooters  have delivered a pretty good sounding rockabilly  album that benefits from strong song writing and execution. Shoulda Known Better  is diverse ,fresh, sounds authentic and is very likeable.Recommended !     http://www.dawnshipley.com/  https://www.facebook.com/dawn.shipley.andthe.sharp.shooters  http://www.reverbnation.com/dawnshipleyandthesharpshooters

Swami John Reis And The Blind Shake - Modern Surf Classics 2015

Legendary guitar slinger  John Reis (Rocket from The Crypt, The Sultans,Hot Snakes, Night Marchers, etc.)  wanted to make a surf album  so he joins forces with Minnesota`s psychedelic punkers The Blind Shake. So a couple of years ago they got together and laid down  a whack of tracks  and now the resulting album is finally out.Washing up on shore is ``Modern Surf Classics`` containing  13 tracks of hard driving surf ,hell for the most part this is surf punk meets  smash mouth surf  and it`s damn good.Yes there is a few traditional surf tracks and that adds to the kool feel of the album.Highlights include: ``Over The Falls``, ``Zulu As Kono``, ``Sea Saw`` and ``Kooks On The Face``.

Overall  ``Modern Surf Classics`` is a killer album  that is a blast of fresh air as well as a wall of sound. It may not appeal to  all fans of surf but there really is something for everyone here (even if your a traditionalist). This baby will blow you away !! Highly Recommended!!   https://www.facebook.com/swamijohn.reis/timeline    https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blind-Shake/62488177468

The Number 9 Blacktops - The County Circle Track

Formerly known as Skinny Jim and The Number 9 Blacktops  and now as just The Number 9 Blacktops ,these kats have been  rockin' hard since 2006. This is a rockabilly / rock n roll band that over the years have put out 3 smokin' albums and have built a solid fan base.By their own admission they play a brand of "hot-rod rockabilly and motorcycle rock-n-roll "and it's hard not to like these kats. The band's 4th album "The County Circle Track" comes in with 12 tracks that are  full of swagger and more than delivers .Like in the past  these kats  have laid down an album that's a kool blast of billy and straight up rock n roll.Highlights include: " Interstate Rocker" , " Tijuana, Mexico" , " Drink and Holler " and " King of the Demolition Derby".

The Number 9 Blacktops  are in fine form here and "The County Circle Track" is another damn   good album by them .These kats are on a winning streak and you probably should check them out. The Loveless - Born Weird 2014

Very  late in 2012  the young upstarts The Loveless released a self titled  "ep ". It was a release that sadly was missed by many outside of Ohio .The "ep" is pretty damn good and those who heard it for the most part loved it.Killer psychobilly and you just knew the band was only going to get better.  Some time later the song "Mean Green "surfaced  and this time the band started to get some major interest. Now in 2014 the band has finally dropped their debut album and this time out  they aren't going to go under the wire. Born Weird  is let's just say a  slobberkocker. Clocking in with a whack of psycho rockers that lean slightly  more towards psycho than punk and this puppy has  more than enough of bite to satisfy . We get 12 tracks including a bonus cover of "Sonic Reducer". Highlights include: "Mean Green" , "King Greaseball" , "Speed Demon" and the kool "Devoured By Ants"
The Loveless come off here as a band that's ready to step it up .This is a lean and mean outfit that is on it's game.  If your looking for aggressive and hard  rock n roll  "Born Weird" is a sure fire pick up. Johnny Legend - I Itch 2014

Johnny Legend also known as  the "Rockabilly Rasputin" is also a man that truly is a legend . You could say he's a modern-day Renaissance man ,hell the guy's done it all from trash film historian, wrestling manager to promoter, actor and producer .He was the man behind Rhino's Sleazemania and Teenage Theater  video series. Too boot he's also a card carrying  inductee of the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame and most people haven't a clue about him. That's right he's a rockabilly guy and has a few albums out and a fan base around the world .His last album is the kool  "Bitchin'",released in 1998 but he has continued to perform over the years.
Fans rightfully got excited in early 2013 when word got out that Mr. Legend was flying over to Finland to record a new album. While the long time coming disc is now out  and it's pretty solid .Simply titled "I Itch" and hits us with a kool mix of originals and covers ( 12 tracks in total). If your a fan of  Johnny Legend this is just what you would expect : rockabilly/rock n roll  with a sense of humor and maybe depending on your view a little offbeat. Highlights include: " I'd Rather Be a Bum"," I'm Loaded","Mexican Love" and the stellar " I Itch (Like a Sonuvabitch)".
Just like in the past, Legend is backed by a really killer band ; The Fightin' Finnabillies (Sami Roine, Mika Railo, "Jami" Haapanen ,Miki Lamarr  and Boppin' Pete) and these cats really nail it here.Sure " I Itch"  may not be everyone's cup of tea but  if it's yours you'll love it.If it isn't  you may want to take a chance here cause this puppy is surprisingly good and has more than enough bark to grab your attention. Nathan Harris - To the Woods 2014

Back in 2010 Nathan Harris and a couple of buddy's formed a band called The Avery Wolves. What really separated them from the pack was that  they were pretty damn good and oh they are  a psychobilly band  from Alaska. You just know that's gotta be a tough place for a psychobilly band too come out of.In 2012 the band released the  mighty fine Ep "Wreckin with the Wolves”. When the band went on hiatus during 2013(their now back) ,Nathan started working on a solo album  and the result is the impressive" To the Woods". This puppy rushes in with 9 kool and original tracks that really deliver the goods. For the most part this is pretty solid psychobilly  that at times  leans towards the horror angle. But I have to say this one album that isn't dragged down by that. Highlights include: " Voodoo House Rise", "In Cuffs Again' ,"Born in Black" and the tittle track "To the Woods".

Overall  "To the Woods " is a consistent, strong and fresh  album  that shouldn't go unnoticed .Hell this will appeal to more than just the billy crowd ,it's a hard rockin' disc that really pays off. Recommended  https://www.facebook.com/VDHrecords    https://www.facebook.com/TheAveryWolvesOfficial
