The Gruffs - Not The Full Shilling 2017

When The Gruffs  formed in early 2016  they created some mild interest. After all this is an outfit that has some major pedigree with members coming out of Luna Vegas,The Hellrazors and Mickey and The Mutants.Instead of rushing things the band took the time to write and record material. It turned out to be a good call. The result is" Not The Full Shilling" a slab of delicious old school psychobilly. The Test Pilots - Parachute Party 2016

In early 2015 The Test Pilots came screaming out of Sweden with one hell of an ep entitled "Deadly Rhythms". These kats totally caught  pretty much all of the psychobilly/rockabilly crowd off-guard .The band then preceded to gain major international airplay and praise.Their brand of psychobilly/neo-rockabilly is strikingly fresh, exciting and full of potential. Now with the release of their debut album " Parachute Party" The Test Pilots are smacking down their hand and it's one that's hard to beat. We get 10 tracks here (9 new) that you can't help but dig. This is modern psychobilly with  old school flare and a stiff shot of neo rockabilly. At times it sounds familiar but it always sounds original and fresh,it's not your typical psychobilly. Highlights include: " The Blob", "Jumble Stomp", "Deadly Rhythms", Thin Blue Line" and "Flipped Out,Twisted n' Trashed".
You just know these guys don't hold to the usual constraints of psychobilly and that's a good thing.  The Test Pilots are one seriously talented outfit and "Parachute Party" bears that out. A lot of people, including myself are and were excited about the band's full album debut.Well it's now here ,call "Paranoid" and it's a real doozie. This puppy roars in with 11 original tracks of rockin' psychobilly that's hard not to like. All 4 of the songs from the demo are here and the rest of the tracks are as good and / or  better. As a result this is one really strong album that delivers in spades.Highlights include: " Mad About You", " Rampton Rage", "Hyena Bop", and " Moon Monster".

Damage Done By Worms – Psycurity Inc. 2015

Damage Done By Worms are back, but it's not like they really went away.Since forming way back in 1989 these Berlin kats have released 3 albums,an ep  and appeared on many compilations. The last album released was the pretty stout "Tonight" released back in 1999.Over the years the band has continued to appear at many festivals as well as other smaller gigs, most of which have been in Europe. As a result the outfit  usually gets overlooked and kinda has stayed under the wire here in North America.Make no mistake here ,this is a serious killer and unique band. If you don't believe me just check out any of their releases. That said the long awaited 4th album "Psycurity Inc." came out earlier this year and it's one damn impressive effort. This puppy kicks the door in with 15 original tracks of psychobilly that meld old school psychobilly, neo rockabilly, surf, and rock n roll with a bit of punk attitude into a refreshing  stew. We even get some harp action tossed in for an add attraction, what's not to like.Highlights include: " Showgirls", "Bullshit", "Psycurity Inc.","Horror" and "Your Way".
They say good things come to those who wait ,well in the case of  " Psycurity Inc." that's true. This is a smart ,diverse and killer album that is simply top shelf.  Damage Done By Worms have made a big statement here and hopefully we don't have to wait a long time for their next album.Highly Recommended!!

The Minestompers - The Minestompers 2015

You gotta give it to a band that let's itself be promoted as "Colognes most hated retards". Chances  are The Minestompers aren't retards and maybe they are hated by some  but one thing for sure is that they are a pretty good psychobilly band.Since 2008 they have been beating and kicking out some kool old school style psychobilly that's hard to ignore. This is an outfit that has some serious pedigree and the chops to go along with it.Fans of the band have waited years for an album and now that wait is over .The self titled debut  smashes in with 14 tracks(13 originals and 1 cover)  that will and do impress. This is psychobilly that is old school ,at times is hard ,plays fast and loose, has a sense of humor and really never takes the foot off the gas.Highlights include: " Invasion" ," Demon Twist", "Mama's Clit" and " Leprechaun Boogie"

The one cover on the album is also worth noting,it's a kool version of "Possessed To Skate",the Suicidal Tendencies track. The Minestompers may have taken a few years to release their debut but it's diffidently been worth the wait.Overall this is one serious stout album that's fun and  delivers the goods.Recommended!!   https://www.facebook.com/theminestompers/timeline

Bad Dooleys - Wild Wood 2015

When the German psycho rockers Bad Dooleys came out of hibernation back in 2011 more than a few fans were caught off guard. After all the band had been put to rest in 1993 and really didn't have much of a footprint outside of Europe. Then in 2012 they released the pretty stout "King Of The Sea" album and the result was a fair bit of  radio and podcast airplay around the world.Well now there back with their fifth album "Wild Wood" and this is one impressive effort.Clocking in with 9 originals and one cover of catchy old school flavored psychobilly  that is hard to resist. This is not only more aggressive than "King Of The Sea",it's also stronger and has a fresher and more focused  feel about it.Highlights include: "Beast in the Jungle" ,"Fast Cars", "Hell Dogs" and "Old Man Stompin' Shoes".
The Bad Dooleys have turned it up a bit here and "Wild Wood " has some muscle, is pretty damn good  and is really easy to like. Not bad for a band some people wrote off years ago.Recommended!!  https://www.facebook.com/BadDooleys?fref=ts

The Diggerz - A Psycho's Tales 2015

In late 2014 I was tipped off about  The Diggerz and to be honest I wasn't familar with them. The word was that these kats were a damn good band and one I should keep an eye on, hell they even have some pedigree too boot. This German psycho outfit has developed a pretty good rep. The band's debut album  "A Psycho's Tales"  is now out and it lives up to the praise I had heard about them and more. This puppy starts off with a horror fused intro and then  breaks into 9 tracks of old school psychobilly that is downright good. This is fresh ,diverse and vital psychobilly that's hard to resist.Highlights include: "BBQ On A Lost Island", "Forgotten Son", "Hangover", and "Breakout".

The Diggerz  have  been compared to a hand full of other psychobilly bands but make no mistake here they are their own band with their own  unique sound. If you want proof "  A Psycho's Tales" bares that out. This is killer album and highly recommended!!   https://www.facebook.com/diggerzpsycho?fref=ts
