Wanton - Dead Country 2019/2020

Finnish psychobilly punkers ,Wanton  are taking no prisoners. These cats have already  dropped 2 straight up stout psychorockin'  albums .Now they have unleashed  "Dead Country" and this time out  they have elevated their game.Punching the clock with 14 original tracks that not only rock but for the most part hit hard and fast. Despite been loaded with  psychobilly/punkabilly tracks,it's their most rock n roll album yet .Hell we even get a little country and harp action  tossed into the mix. From start to finish this is one urgent ride that pays off. Highlights include:  "Dead Country" , " I Drive The Hearse ",  the kool  "Death Rattle Roll"  and "Tic Toc Man"

This is a damn strong album that deserves to be heard. "Dead Country" is also their best yet and for that reason alone ,you should grab it up.  Highly recommended!

Night Nurse - The Antidote 2019

Love them or not, psychobilly cats Night Nurse are a band that has constantly gotten better with every release .Their S/T debut back in 2014  put them on the map and they followed it up with the stout ep  "First Aid"in 2015.Then they really step it up with the kool "Nurse U 2 Death " ep in 2017. Not  standing still they put themselves out there with a  smokin' cover of "Hot  Stuff" late last year.Don't kid yourself ,that was a pretty ballsy move.Disco infused psychobilly is a  risky venture and only  confident and damn good bands  can pull it off. That said one may be hard pressed to guess what  musical direction  Night Nurse is headed .Well their latest offering "The Antidote" lays down the cards hard and is easily their best release so far. This puppy smashes in with 11 original tracks and is damn killer. From straight up psychobilly to punk, hardrock, a little ska and some more  disco infusion .Hell they also throw in a slow burner and all 3 tracks  from the "Nurse U 2 Death " ep.In other words they really mix it up big.Highlights include: "Tell Me How", "Ding A Ling", "Self Esteem" and "Baby Blue".

Night Nurse is flexing their muscles with " The Antidote" and as a result this is a flat out winner. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's one you should take a shot of. Highly recommended!

Knuckles - Fist Fury 2016

Once in a while a new band comes along and just nails it.Case in point, the Knuckles out of Finland and man these cats really rock. They may be new but there is a whack of pedigree here and it shows  This is high octane speed rock meets psychobilly and it's done very well. The band's debut album "Fist Fury" delivers on it's title in more ways than one. We get an intro,10 full throttle tracks and one kool acoustic track that come at you hard and fast .Yeah it's speed rock with a whack of punk and it's more psychobilly than punkabilly. It's also well written and executed and that makes for one hell of a ride.Highlights include: "Mouth Wide Slut", "Dust & Bones", "Psychopath" and "Drunken Fury"

It maybe a debut album but " Fist Fury" is flat out killer. It takes no prisoners and you may want to buckle up for this one.Highly recommended!!

Relax Trio - III 2016

Some bands just keep getting better and better ,case in point Relax Trio .These young upstarts  have always shown a whack of talent and maturity. From rockabilly to the blues and straight up rock n roll they have always delivered the goods. One can't help but be impressed with their  body of work. The band's latest effort "  III " continues the winning streak. This puppy strolls in with a confidence and maturity that bowls you over.We get 11 originals of  the usual  mix of rockabilly ,blues ,rock n roll and shades of country. However the result this time out is by far their most rock n roll album yet.Yep this rocks real good. From a couple of slower numbers to all out rockers the album has a really good vibe and flow. These cats know when to hit then lift off the gas.Highlights include: "Boy From The Fifties", "Goody Two Shoes Go Wild", "Backseat Boogie Nights", "Victory Roll and "You Drive Me Nuts".
Overall "III" is the band's best effort yet.The Relax Trio have succeeded  in maintaining a billy base while becoming a killer rock n roll outfit and that's impressive .Whats really kool is that they are still young and hungry, you just know they're only going to get better.Highly Recommended!!

Wanton - Pick Your Poison 2015

Screaming out of the wilds of Finland comes Wanton a psychobilly band that wants to put the fun back into rock n roll.Since 2011 these kats have been busy making a solid name for themselves with their hard driving/rockin' psychobilly. The band's demo  in 2012 sagged  some attention  and helped create interest in them outside of Finland  . Hell they even managed to sign on with the small but impressive Ring of Fire Records (out of Germany). The band's debut album  " Pick Your Poison " comes in with 14 original (including tracks from their demo) of ass kicking ,horror laced psychobilly that isn't heavy handed. At times this is a pretty good blend of psychobilly and straight up rock(that's a good thing). Highlights include: "The Devil Drives A Cadillac", "Drunkabilly Stomp", "The Seance" and the killer "My Box" which  has some harp action going on.
Wanton  has put out a damn strong debut album with " Pick Your Poison " and it is definitely worth throwing  down some cash on. Recommended.  https://fi-fi.facebook.com/wantonpsycho   http://www.reverbnation.com/wantonpsycho?page_view_source=facebook_app

The Shockwave! - Contact From Space 2014

Finnish surf studs The Shockwave! have been laying down a kool brand of surf music since 2010.Their 2011  debut album "Death Race" is pretty stout . Hell the album created  a whack of interest in the band  and as a result  of that   Double Crown Records  signed them up. These kats play a mix of  traditional  and eleki surf  that's very  fresh.  The band's  sophomore album "Contact From Space"  shows that this is one serious outfit. We get  13 tracks(including 3 covers) that combine traditional , eleki,  and elements of modern surf  that  hit the spot. The album has a good mix of slow and fast tempo tracks that make for a smooth ride.Highlights include: " Golden Gambler", "Contact!", "Shock A Go Go" and "Flow Waves". Also you have to give it to a band when they cover a  a song like "Take On Me"(yes the song by A-Ha) and make it not just their own but also kinda kool.
Overall this a very strong album that has a very kool vibe that runs through out it .This is a refreshing, sweet and  at times a sexy surf  ride that will stick with you. Highly Recommended!  https://www.facebook.com/ShockSurf      http://theshockwavesurf.com/

Johnny Legend - I Itch 2014

Johnny Legend also known as  the "Rockabilly Rasputin" is also a man that truly is a legend . You could say he's a modern-day Renaissance man ,hell the guy's done it all from trash film historian, wrestling manager to promoter, actor and producer .He was the man behind Rhino's Sleazemania and Teenage Theater  video series. Too boot he's also a card carrying  inductee of the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame and most people haven't a clue about him. That's right he's a rockabilly guy and has a few albums out and a fan base around the world .His last album is the kool  "Bitchin'",released in 1998 but he has continued to perform over the years.
Fans rightfully got excited in early 2013 when word got out that Mr. Legend was flying over to Finland to record a new album. While the long time coming disc is now out  and it's pretty solid .Simply titled "I Itch" and hits us with a kool mix of originals and covers ( 12 tracks in total). If your a fan of  Johnny Legend this is just what you would expect : rockabilly/rock n roll  with a sense of humor and maybe depending on your view a little offbeat. Highlights include: " I'd Rather Be a Bum"," I'm Loaded","Mexican Love" and the stellar " I Itch (Like a Sonuvabitch)".
Just like in the past, Legend is backed by a really killer band ; The Fightin' Finnabillies (Sami Roine, Mika Railo, "Jami" Haapanen ,Miki Lamarr  and Boppin' Pete) and these cats really nail it here.Sure " I Itch"  may not be everyone's cup of tea but  if it's yours you'll love it.If it isn't  you may want to take a chance here cause this puppy is surprisingly good and has more than enough bark to grab your attention.
