Damage Done By Worms – Psycurity Inc. 2015

 Damage Done By Worms are back, but it's not like they really went away.Since forming way back in 1989 these Berlin kats have released 3 albums,an ep  and appeared on many compilations. The last album released was the pretty stout "Tonight" released back in 1999.Over the years the band has continued to appear at many festivals as well as other smaller gigs,most of which have been in Europe.As a result the outfit  usually gets overlooked and kinda has stayed under the wire here in North America.Make no mistake here ,this is a serious killer and unique band. If you don't believe me just check out any of their releases.That said the long awaited 4th album "Psycurity Inc." came out earlier this year and it's one damn impressive effort.This puppy kicks the door in with 15 original tracks of psychobilly that meld old school psychobilly,neo rockabilly, surf,and rock n roll with a bit of punk attitude into a refreshing  stew. We even get some harp action tossed in for an add attraction,what's not to like.Highlights include: " Showgirls", "Bullshit", "Psycurity Inc.","Horror" and "Your Way".

      They say good things come to those who wait ,well in the case of  " Psycurity Inc." that's true.This is a smart ,diverse and killer album that is simply top shelf.  Damage Done By Worms have made a big statement here and hopefully we don't have to wait a long time for their next album.Highly Recommended!!

Gutter Demons - Unfinished Business 2015

The Gutter Demons take a back seat to no one.After-all  from 2001 to 2008 these kats were the Kings of Canadian Psychobilly as well as one of the better psychobilly bands on the planet. Hell you can hear their influence on dozens of young bands from around the planet.It was big news when they broke up and even bigger news when it was announced back in 2014 that they were returning.As with most comebacks ,people wanted to know about an album.Well the comeback album is now here and "Unfinished Business" is one killer effort.Crashing in hard with10 originals and 1 cover of psychobilly madness.This hard,mean,fast and dark but then again that's just what you would expect. It's like they never left.Highlights include: "Invaders", " Gutter Kings" "Blood Feast" and "Hellride"
     If anything  the Gutter Demons are on top of their game here with "Unfinished Business". They sound damn  hungry and ready to fight.But be aware this is a knock out punch. Highly Recommended!!

Six Gun Romeo - The Filth 2015

With two stellar albums under their belt Six Gun Romeo are a band that always delivers the goods.This is one fun and damn good outfit that you can't help but like.Their brand of rockabilly/rock n roll is not only infectious but it's also instantly recognizable. The band's 3rd album " The Filth" has now dropped  and it's another winner  by these kats. Clocking in with 13 pretty kool original tracks that will light a fire under your ass.This time out we get the usual rockabilly/rock n roll and also a little more blues thrown into the mix.There is also more harp action  to help round out the action Highlights include: "My Baby,Baby", "2 Shot's Whiskey","Who'dat Knockin' ", "Polka-Dot Dress" and "Quarter Mile".

The Surfaders - A Greater Silence 2015

Back in 2012 The Surfaders released the mighty fine " Dragstrip Murder Mystery"and it caught more than a few surf fans off guard.The band found itself firmly planted on the surf map and quickly became one of the  surf bands to watch.Their blend of traditional ,spaghetti,surf noir with a smearing of punk was and is refreshing and kinda kool. Now in 2015 there back ,better and still have a few surprises too boot. The band's sophomore effort  "A Greater Silence"  ups the game and changes direction.This puppy washes ashore with 12 original tunes that cover the usual ground of surf but this time out the band heads more into  spaghetti western territory.Not only that we get vocals and not just on a couple of tracks but 5.The Vocals will throw most but don't let that fool you this is still really good surf. Highlights include: " Sarpha", "Little Johnny from Hangman's Tree", "Dust from the Sun" and the killer " Sharkbait"

   The Surfaders aren't a band that's afraid to change it up and push the boundaries .With "A Greater Silence"  they prove that. This is a damn good album that manages to surprise, challenge you and leaves you wondering where  The Surfaders go next. Recommended!!

King Moroi - Hardly Better Than Nothing 2015

Formed in 2012 German psychos King Moroi have managed to create some buzz.Their brand of rockin' and  at times punkafied  psychobilly has gained the band a solid following and strong word of mouth.Hell I was told over a year ago to watch out for these kats.That said the band's  debut album "Hardly Better Than Nothing" is now out and it's one freakin' rockin' effort than aims to please.Clocking in with 11 originals and 2 covers of kool and at times hard hitting psychobilly. You could say this modern psychobilly that has the right amount of punk and rockabilly.These kats push the metal to the floor but they also know it doesn't hurt  to slow it up a tad . As a result this puppy more than backs up it's bark.Highlights include: "Switchside",
" Crying Dying Man", "Spy Tank" and "Staying Bad".

  King Moroi definitely live up to the buzz about them and "Hardly Better Than Nothing" is one of the better debuts this year.This is a really strong, well balanced and rockin' album you should check out.Recommended.

Twin . Fin - Whiskey Wine & Venom Love 2015

These days it's gotta be a tough row for swingabilly bands.There aren't many doing it and the venues for them to play at  are far and few.In the barren waste lands  of South Western Ontario hail the outfit known as  Twin . Fin. Over the past few years they have changed members,their name and have evolved from a straight up rockabilly band to a pretty kool swingabilly band. During that time they developed a  following, gained some  strong radio airplay and released a strong single "Rocco Perri". That song has gotten the band some major attention. The next step for these kats was to put out an album.Instead of rushing out something they would regret the band  took the time and effort to do it right as they say.The result is "Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" a strong,smooth and damn good debut.We get  10 originals  of swingabilly that have the right mix of blues ,jazz and rockabilly. The songs range from sultry slow burners  to all out out boppers and as a result the album has a kool vibe and a good flow.Highlights include: "Devil Girl Stomp", "City Of City",  "Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" and " Won't Let You Go"
This is a strong debut by a band that has good songs  and can execute them very well.If your into swingabilly this puppy is for you and even if your not " Whiskey Wine & Venom Love" is worth checking out. Washington Dead Cats - Under The Creole Moon 2015

After 31 years and 10 albums the Washington Dead Cats aren't content to sit on their laurels.Considered by many to be one of the "wild punkabilly bands" around and to others a unique psychobilly outfit.But make no mistake this is one killer rock n roll band that has consistently delivered the goods. That said the band's 11th album "  Under The Creole Moon" is now out and this is one mighty fine outing.Smashing in with 14 tracks that throw out genre lines,mix it up and ends up just been fun and kool.There is something for everyone here,from punkabilly,country,blues to rockabiily and straight up rock.Hell the band's  horn section has never sounded better .Highlights include: "Give Me Back My Broken Heart", " Look Into My Eyes", "Only Vinyl Is Cool" , and "Under The Creole Moon"

      This is one on those albums that gets under your skin in a good way.If anything " Under The Creole Moon" is at times hard hitting ,always fun and very addictive.Let's just say it's a winner .Highly Recommended.

CRAZY CAVAN 'N' THE RHYTHM ROCKERS - THE REAL DEAL 2015

A lot of groups are called legendary but few really are and Crazy Cavan 'n' the Rhythm Rockers are one of the few truly legendary outfits out there.The undisputed kings of Teddy boy rock have been at it since 1970 and are still doing it .With a rap sheet longer than your arm these kats are essential listening if your a rock n roller.Hell it's impossible not to enjoy their blend of rock n roll/rockabilly.That said the boys are back with one hotly anticipated album, "THE REAL DEAL". Once again they don't disappoint and the title says it all,this is just damn good rock n roll. We get a mix of 13covers and  3 originals that bop, rock and stroll and that's just what you expect.Highlights include: "Little Misguided", "Drapes 'n' Drainpipes", "Rattlesnake Daddy", "Zing Zing" and "My Baby's Been Cheating Again".

The 427's - Mavericks 2015

Back in early 2014 Calgary's The 427's released "Surf Noir", a very strong ep and campus radio stations across Canada picked right up on it.Hell that 5 song ep  has charted across the country and is still  getting a ton of airplay a year later.Believe me that's no small feat especially for a surf band.The band also managed to gain some attention south of the border in America as well. Seizing on the so called moment the band has just released it's debut album "Mavericks" and this puppy nails it.We get 11 (1 hidden) original tracks of basically first wave inspired surf that are smooth ,slick and damn good.Throw in some spaghetti and spy and the result is one very impressive debut.Highlights include: "The Spy Invasion", "Yellowbelly", "Urchin Stomp" and "The Score"

  The 427's are still a young outfit since they formed in 2013 and that makes " Mavericks" even more impressive.This is one mature, sexy and kool ride that leaves you feeling fresh.Recommended !!!

Motorbilly - Whiskey & Wild Desire 2015

They hail from North Carolina and are called Motorbilly and they are the purveyors of   "psycho-hot rod sounds". If you haven't heard of them  all you need to know is that this is one serious mean  ass kickin' rock n roll band.Their mixture of  rockabilly, punk ,metal,hard rock and more is one kool brew that is hard to ignore. Some describe them as "plenty of motor with just the right dash of billy". With 3 pretty stout albums  already under their belt,this is a band that just seems to get better with each release.The band's 4th effort "Whiskey & Wild Desire" has the band upping their game.Hell this puppy hits hard, heavy and fast.We get  11 tracks of rock n roll bliss that's not for the weak. Highlights include: " Curse of the Hot Rod Hearse", "  Speedbilly"," Hot Rod Ford " and "The Car Nobody Else Wanted"

Restless - Originals 2015

When it comes to neo rockabilly it really doesn't get much bigger or better than Restless.These kats have sold a whack of albums, have a  huge world wide following that continues to grow and are highly respected and influential. Restless is a band that has set the bar pretty high and for the most part delivered.With their latest release " Originals" they have put out arguably their best yet and believe me that's impressive.This puppy  crashes in with  12 new originals of juicy neo rockabilly  by the original line up (the last time these kats were together was back in 2006). You  know right from the get go that Restless has some  serious  mojo happen' here. Highlights include: " Don't Say It Unless You Will", "Rat-A-Tat-Tat", "You Drive Me Insane" and "Maraca Man".

   After all these years it is kool that a band like Restless can still have a sense of urgency about them.Hell "Originals" not only sounds great ,it's fresh, kinda ballsy and is one of the years best albums.It's more than  what you can ask for and you gotta like that. The Hell Bent Rockers - S/T 2015

Hailing from the big smoke known as Hamilton ,The Hell Bent Rockers have made a name for themselves with some smooth and kool  rockabilly that gets you off your ass. With the release of a  pretty strong demo a couple of years ago they became a band to watch out for. Hell that demo got some major attention.Now in 2015 the band's debut album shows that these kats are more than able to deliver the goods.This self-titled album marches in with 11 original tracks that don't stray off the rockabilly/ rock n roll axis. There is some damn good  rockin' going on here and also a whack of some mean and kool sax playing throwin into the mix.If that wasn't enough, we get some harp action and as a result this puppy has a neat and pleasing  vibe. Highlights include: "Hot Rod" , " What's Your Poison", " Mean Eileen" and  "Let It Out"

   The Hell Bent Rockers are making some noise here and it's all good. Overall this is one strong and fresh debut album that is well worth laying down a few bucks on.Recommended

The Saucer-men - Fangs 2015

Over the course of 15 years the Australian outfit, The Saucer-men have managed gain a strong following,some international attention and have put together a small but impressive discography of 1 single, 2 eps and 2 albums.These kats  may be a neo-rockabilly band but they aren't afraid to mix it up and as a result the band's sound has a kool vibe. If you want proof of that you just have to check out the band's third and newest album " Fangs". This puppy rolls in with 11 tracks (10 originals) that range from straight up rockabilly to  country to rock n roll, some  spaghetti influenced billy and little splash of ska added on the side .Hell we even get some kool trumpet playing  on one track.It really is  a well balanced and diverse album.Highlights include: "Voodoo Stomp","Fangs","Ghost Train" and "Gangsters"
