We get a blast of  instrumental rock  that mangles up with surf and surfpunk .It's a hard hitting ,fast paced thrill ride that pays off big. This time out they stretch their legs and  go over the 3 minute mark 4 times. Proving they can push it and succeed.High lights include: :Rip Rap", "Coke Can Crab", "Run Away", The Western Song" and Surf Sea D.C.".

The Huaraches - Curl Up With The Huaraches 2018

One of Canada's finest surf bands, The Huaraches are about to throw you a slick and kool curveball. After two quick and  killer albums back in 2013 and 2014, the band is now back with"Curl Up With The Huaraches", their 3rd and best album yet. This time out, they once again elevate their game and veer off into somewhat uncharted territory. We get 11 original tracks that range from a little traditional surf to surfpunk and straight up  psychedelic.Hell we even get a 50's inspire instro burner that kills it.Into the mix they throw in some trumpet, sax, lapsteel and a whack of keys. This is dangerous and fun surf that will color you impressed.Highlights include: Three Up, Three Down,"Wolfe Island Make Out Beach", "Breakfast Of Challengers" and "It's Called A Cave Stomp".

The Huaraches are  evolving  and getting stronger with time. "Curl Up With The Huaraches" is proof of that. This is modern surf that takes a backseat to no one. Highly recommended!

The Chukukos - Deep Latin Surf Attack 2017

For a surf band that's been around for only a couple of years, The Chukukos are pretty ballsy .These young upstarts from Chile play a brand of loud and proud surf that's hard to resist. They also it seems, don't like wasting time. They quickly earned a solid rep, then moved the show to Germany.Oh and they dropped a couple of kool and stout singles along the way.Now their debut album, "Deep Latin Surf Attack" has dropped and boy it's a doozy. This puppy crashes ashore with 8 killer tracks that hold nothing back. It's a mix of surfpunk and smash mouth,so you know it hits hard and fast.Hell it clocks in at around 21 minutes with  only one track hitting the 3 minute mark. Highlights include : "La Virgen de las Barricadas", "Surfeando en los 90's", " La Partida" and "LaVenganza de Ramon Ramon".

If anything, " Deep Latin Surf Attack" is a fun kinetic ride that leaves you wanting more. It's a very stout debut album by a band that you should watch out for.Get it while you can on bandcamp (pay what you can)  Recommended!!!

Mark Malibu & The Wasagas - Return Of The Wasagas 2017

Back in 1979 Mark Malibu & The Wasagas  washed up onto the Toronto punk and immediately stood out from the pack. Been Canada's first surfpunk was no easy chore but they managed to record a handful tracks, some which appeared on a few compilations. After a 3 year run they packed it in and sadly were quickly forgotten. Funny thing thou,in the early 2000's  Toronto burgeoning surf was starting to gain traction and for a few people  Mark Malibu & The Wasagas became a touchstone band. It took a few more years but in 2014 they appeared at The Great Lakes Surf Battle #9 and released the kool "Original Surf Punk Recordings". As a result you could say the game was back on. Now in 2017 they have dropped the  kool and sweet album " Return Of The Wasagas". This puppy craves in with 12 originals and 2 covers of mighty fine surf. For the most part this is aggressive traditional surf but we also  get a range of surf here ,from traditional to spaghetti to surf punk and a little horror surf .From the opening intro to the final track this is one refreshing and fun ride that maintains a stout groove.Highlights include: "Surfin' A Go-Go" , " Boogie Board ", " Spaghetti Summer" and "Ain't Gunna Crash"
There is no doubt about it "Return Of The Wasagas" packs a punch. Mark Malibu & The Wasagas are making up for lost time here. This is a lean and hungry outfit that's bringing it on and having fun too boot. Highly Recommended!!

Los Tiros - Expertos En Cagarla 2015

Los Tiros is a surf band from Guatemala and sadly most of us haven't heard of them. Until a few weeks ago I hadn't heard of them either.Let's just say you really gotta give these cats a listen. This is  instro / spaghetti surf that you can sink your teeth into. The band's debut "Tu Pesadilla Regresó, Bienvenido al Infierno"came out 2013 album (I haven't heard it but I hear it's killer). Their sophomore album  "Expertos En Cagarla" was released in late 2015  and started getting noticed here in North America in mid 2016. This is one album that will blow you away.It smashes in with 13tracks that hit the ground hard and it doesn't let up.We get a blast of spaghetti surf that collides with surf punk and still at times comes off as revved up traditional surf. This may be the fastest western/spaghetti  surf album out there and it's damn good to boot!Highlights include: " Colt del Tipo 420", " El Último Tiro", "  Forjado a Fuego Lento en Fort Knox", and " Big Chief ".
There has been a whack of excellent surf music released in the last couple of years and " Expertos En Cagarla" is up there with some of the best. You really want to check  Los Tiros out .You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended!!

The Coffin Daggers - Aggravatin’ Rhythms 2016

The Coffin Daggers  may not have a big discography for a band that's been around since 1999.Hell they have released a couple of singles ,an ep and only 2 albums, the last been in 2011. However each release has  been pretty impressive. This is one surf punk outfit that knows how too do some serious damage and as a result there is a large, loyal and growing  fan base for these kats.In 2015 the band hitched up with Cleopatra Records and the results are now out  with their third album " Aggravatin’ Rhythms". This  mad puppy comes out swinging  hard, fast and most of all delivers on all accounts. We get 14 tracks (a mix of originals  and  covers) of instrumental surf punk that range from garagy  to smash mouth .This is a powerful brew that's stirred with hard driving guitar and a damn kool organ. Highlights include:  "Instigator", "Five-Five", " The Thing" , and " Wake Up Screaming".
There was some buzz surrounding the release of  "Aggravatin’ Rhythms' "and that was good to see. This is one very strong and intense album but it's a fun ride to boot .Yeah it kicks butt and that's what you would expect.  Highly Recommended!!!     https://www.facebook.com/coffindagger/timeline    http://coffindaggers.com/

The Green Reflectors - S/T 2015

For a band that describes itself as just a little duo,The Green Reflectors sure make a ton of commotion.Hailing from Nova Scotia this instrumental duo is known as the non-surf ,surf band .What these kats lay down is a blistering mix of surf ,punk and at times hard rock into a refreshing brew of smash mouth Instrumental surf based rock.Their first  2 albums had very limited runs but still managed to snag some international attention .That said the band's 3rd  self titled effort is now out  and one has to be impressed .Coming in with 18 original  tracks of smash mouth surf rock that could wake the dead. There is no messing around here as most of the tracks come in at under 2 minutes and only a couple touch the 3 minute barrier.Hell this hits hard and fast and leaves you wanting more.Highlights include: "Blowtorch", "The Not So Surf Song", "Rocket Booster", "Kreetlugget" and "Magnum Swagger".

The Green Reflectors  are a band that understands what it means to deliver more bang for your buck and you gotta like that. This is one of those albums that hooks, then reels  you in and delivers in spades .Highly recommended!  https://www.facebook.com/The-Green-Reflectors-51648788591/timeline
