One always gets the feeling that with every release The Raygun Cowboys are about to, as they say "break out". You would be hard press not to like them after hearing them. This is flat out fun ,infectious rockabilly/ psychobilly that at the end of the day is freakin' sweet rock n roll .Even if horn sections with rock aren't your thing, these cats will still slay you. With a killer rap sheet of 5 albums .it's just a matter of time before one of Canada's best kept rock n roll secrets gets their due. Well time may just be now with their latest release: "Bloodied But Unbroken", been released by Stomp here in North America and by Diablo Records in Europe. Once again The Rayguns up the anti and unleash a damn kool slab that will have you up and shaking. This time out we get 9 originals and 1 cover than truly deliver the goods. They stay the course here, as a result we get a simmering stew of rockabilly, psychobilly, punk and rock.Highlights include: "Jonesin' ", "YEG", "Fast Machine", "Live My Life For Rock n Roll" and "Limbo".
They're is no doubt that The Gutter Demons are a top shelf outfit.Hell they have managed to carve out their own niche in the psychobilly world and are one of Canada's best bands, period. With a stout rap sheet of 4 studio albums and one live ,this is a band that's open for business and killing it.Now the band is offering up their latest release," No God, No Ghost, No Saints " and it's another sonic winner. This puppy is pretty much an all out attack that will colour you impressed. We get 10 tracks of hellbound psychobilly and one ballad .As a bonus there is also a hidden track at the end of the album. It's pretty much what one would expect ,however there is at times a more rock n roll feel here. That may be because the band worked with Frank Seguin (Matchless) .As a result this is of the band's better albums and that's saying something.Highlight include: Damage Case", "Ravenous", "D.O.A." ,"Roadkills" and "Cold Call" The Gutter Demons nail it here with " No God, No Ghost, No Saints " but then again that should surprise no one. Some will argue that it's their best yet and it's definitely one of the years best albums. You need to get this puppy and crank it so the neighbours will think your the koolest cat on the block.Highly recommended!!!
With the quiet demise of The Hellbound Hepcats, lead man Alex Brown wasted no time in forming the new band ; Alex Brown and The Hepcats. To no surprise, this outfit is damn good and it would be easy to confuse the two bands.Make no mistake, they may sound very similar but they are two different entities. That said Alex Brown and The Hepcats have dropped their new debut album "Reckless Ways " and this puppy is a straight up winner. We get 10 original tracks that range from all out rockers and boppers to mid tempo burners. This is a kool mix stew of neo rockabilly, 50's inspired rock n roll and country twang.Throw in a little swing and r&b and the result is one swingin' affair that will have up and rockin'.Highlights include: " Reckless Ways ", " Take Me Back", " One More" and "Twist Like Licorice".
It's been 4 years since The Creepshow released their last album,"Life After Death". A very stout effort that was also a watershed moment for the band.Since then these cats have been constantly touring and fans have been wondering when the next album will come.Well the wait is over as the band has just dropped their latest and 5th album,"Death At My Door".This puppy comes running in with 10 tracks of basically what you expect and a little bit more. From their signature sound to an all out rocker with horns to a slow haunting ballad it delivers .The Creepshow have never been afraid to stray a little from psychobilly and do it successfully again here .Hell this is easily their best album yet and probably their most diverse when push comes to shove.Highlights include: "Death At My Door", "A.O.T.B.H.", "Sticks and Stones" and the kool "New Kings"
There are a few bands that pretty much everyone agrees are damn good and The Raygun Cowboys are one of them. These Edmonton cats are straight up top shelf as well as exciting, unique and a total blast of fresh air.Hell they can make a dead man move.If you have been lucky enough to see them live, you know what I'm saying. With every new album they seem to up their game and with their 6th and latest album " The Cowboy Code " they knock it out of the park. This time out they blow up the house with 11 tracks that will color you impressed. We get the get their signature sound : rockabilly driven by a killer horn section with a serving of punk and rock n roll. From the opening track to the final one this is a high energy and stout outing.Highlights include: " It's Coming Down", Let The Road Decide", the cover of SNFU's "Painful Reminder" and the freakin' kool "Robocop"
Over the past few years Canuck psycho's The Brains have emerged as one of the top psychobilly bands out there. This is one serious contender that has managed to release a string of 6 impressive albums that is hard to match.Hell the big questions about every Brains release is just how good it really is and how do these kats keep getting better.Their 7th and latest album "Out In The Dark" is now out and this little monster is nothing short of a real barn burner. We get 11 tracks of kinetic psychobilly with a wack of punk infusion.Yeah it's more of the same but that's what they do and just like in the past they nail it.Highlights include: "Wolfman", "Lifetime", "The Witch" and "Killer".
So just how good is "Out In The Dark",well it may not be as intense as say "Zombie Nation" but it is arguably their best all round album yet and that's not an easy feat. This is a must have album by a band that not only delivers the goods but are still hungry and again seem to get better with every release.Highly recommended!! https://www.facebook.com/TheBrainsMTL?fref=tshttps://thebrains.bandpage.com/
With a whack of talent and a ton of hard work The Hellbound Hepcats have over the years emerged as one of Canada's better bands.Sure they are a rockabilly band but to many people they are just a killer rock n roll band and that's not a bad thing. The band's self- titled debut and their sophomore album, No. 2 are pretty damn good and well worth checking out. That said, these kats have been constantly touring and as a result it's been over 3 years since their last release(2012). Well the wait is over and the band's third album, "Turn Me Inside Out" has now dropped and this is a surprising disc. This puppy comes punching in hard and at times dirty with 13 originals tracks. Talk about changing things up ,not only do we get the rockabilly but we also get, dare I say classic/ hard rock a little grunge and more. You could say this is a kool bag of goodies. Highlights include: "All Night Long", "Sweet Amber Jean", "Something Different" and "Black Cats"
