Whiskey Daredevils - The Good Fight 2016

The Whiskey Daredevils are flat out good and if you don't know that you should.Over the years and 9 albums in , these cats have always delivered the goods .Playing a mix bag of cowpunk,rockabilly,garage,punkabilly and rock n roll ,they have managed to stay vital and  refreshing. Saying that,the band's 10th and latest record "The Good Fight" is one hell of a ride that you gotta like.This time out we get 12 tracks that really mix it up and it just may be their most diverse album yet.This isn't as hard hitting as 2015's "Nashville Surprise " but it is  better.We get more twang ,more country,a little blues and it as a whack of speed and power too boot.This is roots rock that really rips it up and isn't for the faint of heart .Highlights include: "3 O’Clock In The Morning", "It’s Just Jail ", " I Don’t Love Your Sister", "Sunshine Girls" and "Mojo Twist "

           Put it simply "The Good Fight" is another stellar effort by a band that still sounds refreshing and fun. If your looking for something that pushed the fold this puppy is for you and even if your not you should take a chance here.It's a pretty kool album. Galactic Polecats - The Bad Are Better Off 2017

Back in 2015 the Galactic Polecats gained some major attention with the release of the hard hitting and damn good ep "The Rockinest Cat in the Galaxy". Their combination of rockabilly, psychobilly and punk has become known as shinerbilly .Not standing still the band's sound has evolved and strengthened.As they say "the proofs in the pudding" and one just has to give their debut album "The Bad Are Better Off "a spin to hear it. This puppy comes in with some major  swagger and backs it up.We get 12 tracks of modern rockabilly that smash into straight up rock n roll .Sure they still hit hard and fast but at times they slow things up, reel it in a bit and change directions.Hell they even add  tinges of country into the mix.The result is a refreshing ride that's hard to resist.Highlights include: "Necro Girlfriend", "Littlebird '55", " Rosie Mae", "Walk On" and the cover of "Devil Inside".

       The Galactic Polecats have a winner with "The Bad Are Better Off ". It's one kool rock n roll album that delivers the goods by a band that's firing on all  the cylinders.Highly recommended!

Cracks - Psychotic Pride 2016

Since forming 1999 Cracks have emerged as one of Japan's better psychobilly bands.Over the years they have leaned more towards the horror angle but this is a psychobilly band  that is much more than that.They have never been afraid to mix it up and have a knack for doing kool covers.The band's 6th and latest release "Psychotic Pride " is a blast of fun with a couple of curve balls thrown into the mix .This puppy kicks in with 15 tracks of rockin'  psychobilly  that shifts gears with ease.Yes we get the horror angle a dose of punk ,a couple of slower numbers and  even  some banjo on a track that has shades of country.Hell add in a few kool covers and this is easily their most diverse and best album yet.Highlights include: "Head Shot","Godless Generation", " 4 Piece Living Dead", the Marshall Crenshaw  cover of "Someday Someway" and The Dammed  cover of " Machine Gun Etiquette"

     
      At times " Psychotic Pride" rings with familiarity and it's a pretty kool ride too boot .The Cracks nail it here and like I said before this is their best yet. Recommended!!!

The Hoodoo Tones - Confessions Of A Loner 2016

Hailing from Lille,France comes the young guns  known as The Hoodoo Tones.Since 2012 these cats have been tearing it up with their brand of  modern rockabilly/ rock n roll.They have earned a rep as a killer tight outfit and have become a band to check out.That said the band's debut album," Confessions Of A Loner "  on Rhythm Bomb Records  is now out and it will only cement their growing reputation. Punching in with 11 originals and 2 covers ,this puppy is one solid debut effort.This is 50's inspired rock n roll / rockabilly with a whack of modern flare.The band deals a hand full of rockers and even a slow cooker that maintain a kool vibe through out the album. Highlights include: "Northern Style', " Watch Your Mouth", " Miss Lizzy"and " The One". 

    
 Overall  "Confessions Of A Loner" is a pretty strong album that's well produced and  sounds great  by a band that is on top of their game.You're gonna want to check this puppy out. Recommended!

Los Tiros - Expertos En Cagarla 2015

Los Tiros is a surf band from Guatemala and sadly most of us haven't heard of them. Until a few weeks ago I hadn't heard of them either.Let's just say you really gotta give these cats a listen.This is  instro / spaghetti surf that you can sink your teeth into.The band's debut "Tu Pesadilla Regresó, Bienvenido al Infierno"came out 2013 album (I haven't heard it but I hear it's killer). Their sophomore album  "Expertos En Cagarla" was released in late 2015  and started getting noticed here in North America in mid 2016. This is one album that will blow you away.It smashes in with 13tracks that hit the ground hard and it doesn't let up.We get a blast of spaghetti surf that collides with surf punk and still at times comes off as revved up traditional surf.This may be the fastest western/spaghetti  surf album out there and it's damn good to boot!Highlights include: " Colt del Tipo 420", " El Último Tiro", "  Forjado a Fuego Lento en Fort Knox", and " Big Chief ".
    There has been a whack of excellent surf music released in the last couple of years and " Expertos En Cagarla" is up there with some of the best.You really want to check  Los Tiros out .You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended!!

Maryann & The Tri-Tones - Kitten Walk 2016

Since forming back in  2011 Maryann & The Tri-Tones  have been a band that has people talking and it's all good. From their demo recordings to the "Honey Baby" single to their excellent  debut  album "Supersonic Gal" this is one rockabilly band that isn't afraid to mix it up and still delievers the goods.The outfit's latest offering " Kitten Walk " is now out and again it's another winner.Clocking in with 11 originals and 2 covers of rockabilly, 50's rock n roll and shades of country.Hell we even get a little western swing too boot. From slow and sultry  to strollers and rockers, this puppy changes gears and aims to please.Highlights include: "Dance With My Baby ", " Got You On My Mind", " Don't Touch" and "Hold Me Tight"

       Over all "Kitten Walk" is a kool and strong effort that is  Maryann & The Tri-Tones best effort yet.It's what you expect  and more from these cats .Recommended!!!
