The Stinky Rodders - Raw & Wild 2017

Recently I caught wind of the Hungarian band The Stinky Rodders and with a name like that you gotta check them out. While color me impressed, these cats brew up some catchy "garage rockabilly" that will light a fire under a dead man's ass.Their 2016 ep " From The Garage" is a stout mix of equal parts  wild rockabilly and garage.The follow up is even better  and it's their debut album; "Raw & Wild.This puppy punches the clock with 12 kick ass tracks that are less on the rockabilly and more garage, that at times  mashes up into punkabilly. It also times in at around 30 minutes, so you know these cats get right to the point. We get  songs about bad gals, drinking and getting it on. It's also fast, furious, dirty and a whole whack of fun.Highlights include: "Route 69", "Bad Girl", "Midnight Boogie" and "Dead Body's Movin' "

       
   With "Raw &Wild", The Stinky Rodders have dropped a rocket sled of fun and you'll be hitting the repeat button.You may want to keep an eye on these guys. Highly recommended!!

Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards – Flash Freezing the Sun 2017

     When it comes to smash mouth surf  few bands do it better than France's Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards.These purveyors of "brutal surf " aren't afraid to push the boundaries and relish taking it into the red. As a result some have accused them as been a noise/metal infused band but don't let that deter you.These cats are totally refreshing and freakin' kool. Their first two albums,"Surfs Up" (2011) and "Bug Terminal" (2015) both deliver enough body blows to win the day. Now their back with "Flash Freezing the Sun",a sci-fi epic that delivers a knock out punch.This puppy explodes  with 13 tracks of dark and dangerous instrumental surf rock.For the most part this is fast and hard but there is a couple of  softer tracks that help to ease this frantic ride.There is even one track with vocals.Overall it's their best effort yet and that's saying something.Highlights include: "Volcano Juice","Fluide Glacial" ,"Flash Freezing the Sun", "Extropie Boogie" and" No Comply".

 
With " Flash Freezing the Sun" these cats put it all out there and have another winner on their hands. If you aren't familiar with Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards , you should do yourself a favor and check them out. This could be the wake up call you have been waiting for.Highly recommended!

The Midniters - Terror Incognito 2017

Back in the late 80's The Midniters  achieved some success with 2 albums, "Easy Money" and "Walk The Line".When 1990 rolled around this hard driving neo rockabilly outfit  had packed it in.Then in 2112 they reformed for a one off gig  and despite a few setbacks still has the band  in action to this day and that's a good thing .They are now on the new label Planet X Records and have reissued "Easy Money".Better yet  they have just dropped the new , "Terror Incognito"  their third and best album.This puppy comes growling in and means business .We get 10 originals and 2 covers of  "hard rockabilly" colliding with psychobilly that has hard rock edges .It even has a little surf vibe at times, all which really ups the game here.Highlights include: "Got To Hurry", "Dead Man's Hand, "All Out Attack" and " Terror Incognito".

 
    There is a lot to like about " Terror Incognito " ,yes it's a comeback album but it is also pretty damn stout . The Midniters are hitting back hard and you just know they still have more gas in the tank.Highly Recommended !

The Alligators - Rock, Bop, Jump! 2017

For years now,the Russian rockabilly scene  has been loaded with a whack of pretty good bands. Most of the bands get overlooked as it's hard to find out about them,especially over here in North America. One of those outfits, The Alligators has been making some big waves with their sweet and wild  "authentic rockabilly". They managed to catch the ear of Alan Wilson (Western Star Records)  and the result is their  stellar debut album," Rock, Bop, Jump!". This puppy confidently struts in with 16 tracks of kool rockabilly that will get you up and  moving.We get a good balance of originals and covers here that deliver more than a satisfying bang for your buck. For the most part this is all uptempo rockabilly and there isn't a weak track to be found.They also throw in a little hillbilly and some rock n roll flare into the mix .Highlights include: Goin' Strong", " All About You". ""Rock Bop Jump!","Sputnik" and "Bear Boogie Pub"

   
  Overall " Rock, Bop, Jump!"  is a top shelf effort  and a rockabilly album you should grab up From start to finish, this is a stout and enjoyable ride . Highly recommended !

The Wreck - Sailors Grave 2017

Just when you think it's safe to set sail,along comes The Wreck .A group of psycho pirates that aim to take over the seven seas .With a whack of mayhem and pedigree they fired off a very kool warning shot earlier this year with the"Nosferatu"single.Now there back with a barrage and looking to take no prisoners .The band's debut album "Sailors Grave" has just washed ashore and this puppy is a straight up winner.Clocking in with 12 rockin' tracks of old school psychobilly that will light a fire under your ass.This is fun and brisk  psychobilly that has a little twist of new wave. It's also a damn refreshing and powerful ride that will have you coming back for more.Highlights include: "Space Outlaw:, "Morphine" The Day The Earth Stood Still", "Attack Of The Giant Bumblebee" and the sweet "Axe To Beat".

     
     There was a some major anticipation for "Sailors Grave" and it's safe to say that The Wreck  have delivered big time here .This is one pirate's treasure you want to snag up.Highly recommended!!!
