Mississippi Queen - Oh Yeah! 2016

Over the years the long standing Croatian outfit Mississippi Queen have become one of the top European rockabilly acts and rightfully so. These kats site firmly at the corner of rockabilly and country.No matter which way they turn one thing for sure is that it's always authentic and pretty sweet to boot.The band's last album was the impressive "Rock-a-Billy Heaven Bound" back in 2008.So a new album has been a long time coming.Well the wait is over and yes it was worth the wait.The latest effort (their 5th), "Oh yeah!" is their most rockin' yet.This  puppy struts in with 13 originals and one cover of kool authentic rockabilly and country. These kats have always managed to strike a good balance but this time out they lean a little  more toward rockabilly/ rock n roll and as a result this puppy at times rocks  damn good.Highlights include: " Ol Black Busted Guitar", "Oh Yeah" , "Everybody Have A Ball" and "Mississippi Queen"

         Overall this is another very strong effort by a band that knows how to deliver the goods.These kats still have it and really seem to be on top of their game here. Hell "Oh Yeah!" may just be the band's best yet and that's more than enough  to add it to your wish list.Recommended !!

Véloniños - Véloniños 2016

You may not heard of the Véloniños but to a whole wack of  people( including myself) out there, they are a big deal.With two thirds of The Shakin' Pyraminds in the lineup ,you just know there is something special going on here.Last year in 2015 the band released the stellar self titled ep and now they have followed it up with their self titled debut album.We get 10 tracks here that run the gamut from rockabilly, blues to rock n roll and shades country. The band changes things up with an ease and coolness that will color you impressed. Highlights include "Alabamaman", "Preacherman", "Mad Cat Dynamo", "Hey Véloniño!" and " Red Diesel Medicine".

         
  The Véloniños have delivered an album that is hard to pigeon hold.It's diverse ,strong, very rewarding and will grow on you.It's good, in fact it's very good. Highly Recommended !!!!

The Lab Ratz - Terror Is Loose 2016

The Lab Ratz  exploded onto the Montreal scene back in 2014 and haven't looked back since.Sure they have a serious whack of  pedigree but this an outfit that doesn't rest on it's laurels.Hell they are known for been one really intense and raw live act.In some corners of the Canadian psychobilly scene the band's debut album has been just as hotly anticipated as some of the other big name releases that happen late last year.So now in early 2016 the band has dropped their debut album " Terror Is Loose". There is no doubt this puppy rocks hard and nails it.We get 13 original  tracks of pure killer psychobilly  that really do impress.This is psychobilly that will  appeal to both the old school and modern camps.Highlights include: "Uptown Mouse", "Duct Tape Boogie", "Channel Real TV", " Revenge" and "Wild Cavemen".

        With "Terror Is Loose" The Lab Ratz  have more than  lived up to all the buzz about them.It really is no surprise that this is a killer album  and that should tell you something. Highly recommended!!

Twisted Rod - Boozin' and Boppin' 2016

There is no doubt  Twisted Rod is one serious contender,hell their "authentic rockabilly has been winning fans over for a few years now.The band's debut album from 2014,"Bring It On Home" is one smoking hot  album that firmly put them on the map.Now there back with the sophomore effort "Boozin' and Boppin' " and it's another winner.This puppy deals out 13 slices (10 originals) of dangerously fun rockabilly/rock n roll.These kats  know what they do  best and stick with it. The result is an album with a  pretty kool groove that ranges  from a kool slow tempo number to all out rockers.That should come as no surprise  as we are talking about Twisted Rod here.Highlights include: "Booze Bop"," Get On The Train",  the instrumental track "Tempest" and "Rattle Shakin' Mama".

       Overall  "Boozin' and Boppin' " is very an enjoyable album that is stronger than the band's debut. If anything this shows that these kats are damn good and they just keep getting better.Highly Recommended .
