Robert Gordon - I’m Coming Home 2014

Over the last couple of years there has been more than a few rockabilly/psychobilly bands that have climbed out of the grave to deliver reunion/comeback albums.Let's be honest here some of those bands probably should have stayed dead but hell a few have really delivered killer albums.All which brings us to rockabilly legend Robert Gordon.His last album was 2007's "Now Or Never"  but Mr. Gordon never went away, he  has been constantly touring all while turning a younger audience onto rockabilly. Now after almost seven years it's time for a new album  and  if your a fan you won't be disappointed . " I’m Coming Home"  is a  strong collection of 12 tracks that  prove Robert Gordon still has it.Ranging from  rock n roll to country to straight up rockabilly this has all the elements one would expect.The song selection is top shelf as is the production and we get a pretty stout band pushing Gordon along.Highlights include "Walk Hard", " I’m Coming Home", " Little Pig" and "Quit this Big Old Town".
    This is one of those albums that really grows on you with repeated listens and it has enough diversity,  heart and substance to keep you engaged.   "I’m Coming Home is a fine addition in the Robert Gordon discography. The Lunatics - Come Nude!! Bring Beer!! 2014

When The Lunatics started out in 2002 these German kats were pretty much a straight up psychobilly band.Over the years this band has evolved into a damn  fine rock n roll unit that is as much a psychobilly based band as it is a rockabilly one. In 2006 they released their debut  album "Rockmachine",a solid album that  managed to get them some notice .The band's next release was in 2010 ,"Bilingual" is one killer album that really put these kats on the map.We have had to wait 4 years now for the follow-up and it's finally here.   You could say "Come Nude! Bring Beer! " really brings it on ,this puppy kicks and smashes in the doors with 17 tracks that grab you by the neck and hold your attention . There is nothing here not to like it's that good .The band flips back and forth between German and English (like in the past)and turns it up musically .Hell we even get a country tune.Highlights include: the title track"Come Nude!! Bring Beer!!, "Going Down In Flames","Silence" and "Sonntag".

Punch Drunk Cabaret - The Juke Joint Revival Hour 2014

Hailing from the frozen wastelands of Northern Alberta comes one of Canada's most interesting and kool bands and you probably haven't even heard of  them.I'm talking about Punch Drunk Cabaret here folks and you may just want to check these guys out.Playing a blend of "rockabilly/outlaw country/steampunk swing" they have managed to create a bit of buzz out in Western Canada and word is that they are a must see band.The band's  2012 self title debut album  is surprisingly good and deserved more airplay and attention than it received.That said the band's newest effort  "The Juke Joint Revival Hour" is one kool and eclectic  ride that is sure to please.Clocking in with 10 rock solid tracks plus an intro,a benediction and a word from the sponsor this is roots rock that isn't afraid to be a bit outside the box and that's a good thing. Highlights include: " Smokestack Cadillac"," Thin the Herd ","Division of the Damned" and "Pandemonium".

Stressor - No More Panic 2014

One can't help but be a fan of Stressor.Over the years this Russian band has been written off by more that a few people and each time they seem to come back harder and better.Want proof  in  late 2010 they lose a key member only to bounce back with not only their best album but a truly killer one at that,  "Trip To Mad City" in 2012.Now in 2014 Stressor are back with an album that simply ups the ante. "No More Panic" the band's 5th album is nothing short of a knock out punch, this puppy really rocks and is easily their best yet.Hell my better half has been playin' the crap out of it. Coming in with 13 tracks of kool old school psychobilly  that are horror/sci-fi  free (just what you expect from these guys) makes this a very fresh sounding and exciting album.Highlights include " Earthquake Coming", "200 Bones","Hit The Pig" and a kool cover of "Bye Bye Love"

Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys - Damaged Goods 2014

Back in 2011 Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys made more than a few waves  with their  impressive debut album "Poultricide". They seem to come out of nowhere but the truth is that all these guys had as they say "been around" . Jane Rose was no new comer either,she was originally in  The Bible Belt Sinners.The band's sound is a  raw stew of roots and rock n roll that really has hit a chord with a lot of people.Now 3 years later the band is back with their follow up album and I gotta say it's a doozy.  "Damaged Goods" strolls in with a grin and ton of swagger,that's all good.

       We get 10 very strong tracks  that mix  rockabilly, country,blues, hillbilly and rock n roll(something for everyone). Basically it's more of the same but only better this time out.Highlights include: "Hot Rod Daddy"," Boogie Man", "Shit or Git" and "Man's Ruin ". This is a diverse,strong and fun album  that shows that their debut  album "Poultricide"  was no fluke. Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys  have more than lived up to expectations,hell they really nail it on "Damaged Goods" . Shakin Katz Radio presents A Canadain Psychobilly Special May7

On May 7th three of the biggest names in Canadian psychobilly will be coming  on Shakin' Katz Radio.This is a rare event  and one not to be missed!
              Mick Tupelo  is one of the founding members of Canada's legendary DeadCats. These  west coast psychos have been at it since 1994  and are considered to be the Godfathers of Canadian psychobilly.The band has been on more than a few compilations and have released 8 albums to date .As they say "Only The DeadCats are Purr Mayhem" . Mick is also  in  the kool  rockabilly/hillbilly boogie band  The Highsiders. By the way is also the guy behind  Flying Saucer Records a label that specializes in  billy related music.The label has been a major factor in creating interest in the Canadian psychobilly/rockabilly scene.

  Montreal based  Gutter Flipper has also been around for a few years and is considered one of the best Doghouse slappers around .He started out his psychobilly career in a band called Rosekill  and then went on to form The Gutter Demons in 2001.In a period of just 7 years they released 3 must have albums .Room 209 is considered by many to be a classic psychobilly album.The band achieved international statues as one of the best psychobilly bands  in the world. The band broke up in 2008  and Flipper then became a member of Matchless a pretty impressive band  who now have 2 albums under their belt. Earlier this year The Gutter Demons reunited  after a 6 year hiatus and the band is now in demand .

   Rene D La Muerte is the man responsible for Canada's #1 psychobilly band The Brains.Since forming in 2002 the band has managed to release 6 albums and have developed a  rabid fan base around the world.Rene has also forged a successful career as a producer and recording engineer. For over a decade he has worked with many  bands from The Mahones,The Blackrats,to Flesh Roxon and currently the East End Radicals.
