Hot Slap - Lookin’ For The Good Thing! 2018

 
  One of France's best keep  rock n roll secrets is the band Hot Slap.Since 2014 they have played all over their country but have rarely strayed outside of France.However they have  gained a rep as a top shelf neo rockabilly/rock n roll outfit in their homeland  .Back in 2015 they released their debut album "Play Legends".It's an all cover affair that's pretty sweet and showed that this was a band to watch out for.While, now their back with the killer sophomore album,"  Lookin’ For The Good Thing!". This puppy struts in, full of  swagger and backs it up big.We get  a 50/50 split of originals and covers totally 14 tracks, that gives you a good bang for your buck.It's a kool and sharp shot of neo rockabilly with a healthy kick of the blues mixed in.They also throw in a little country just to spice things up.From start to finish,this is one damn strong dish, that will leave you pleased .Highlights include; "Something In The Water:, "Better Than", " I Was Your Man" and "Sometimes"

Running From Daylight - Elvis Ain't Dead Yet 2018

    Since crawling out of the primordial muck of Southwestern Ontario in 2017,  Running From Daylight  have been on a tare.  First came their 3 song ep "Coffin For Two" and then they hit back with| the kool single  "Mary Jane" .Along the way these young psycho upstarts have manged to snag some major airplay and not just in Canada. Not standing still they have just unleashed  their debut album, "Elvis Ain't Dead Yet".This puppy snarls and bites with 7 tracks  of  mainly rockin' psychobilly. They also add shots of punkabilly,horror, spaghetti and hard rock into the mix. It's a  fast and a bit of a loose ride that delivers.Highlights include: " Elvis Ain't Dead Yet", "Mary Jane", Between The Eyes" and "Whole Damn Bottle"

       
             One has to be impressed with Running From Daylight, in less than a year they have put out 3 strong releases .As for "Elvis Ain't Dead Yet",it's a pretty stout debut album that shows this is a band that has it going on and is one you may want to keep an eye on . Recommended

Beat Devils - Dig My Beat 2018

It's been 5 years now since the Beat Devils unleashed their last album, the kool all cover  "Touchdown".Since then they have added the single" Radio Dog"(2014) and the surprising and head turning video single "Night Falls Down" (2015) to an all ready stout discography. This is one old school psychobilly outfit that knows how to change it up and let the creative juices flow.Not to be contend these cats have now struck back with their 5th  studio release, the impressive "Dig My Beat"This puppy clocks in with 13 tracks that mix  old school psychobilly and neorockabilly. They also include "Night Falls Down" a country tune that borders on, dare I say Americana.Overall this may be their best album yet.The band manages to change gears a couple times here and all the tracks pretty much sound different. It rocks hard and then pulls you back,then rocks again.As a result ,it's a sweet ride.Highlights include: "Dynamite Eyes", Baby's Got Me Wrong, "Lonely Boy" and "Dig My Beat".

           
     The Beat Devils have scored another winner with "Dig My Beat".It is a damn good album that makes for a fine listening and your better half will thank you for it .Highly recommended!!

The Mee Kats - Let's Go Boppin' 2017

  Since forming  back in 2010 The Mee Kats have quietly won over a lot of folks with their sweet authentic rockabilly/rock n roll and rightfully so.One just has to listen to their ep "Everybody's Rockin" or their debut album "All Dressed Up" to know that these kats mean business and have a whack of fun doing it. On their  latest album , Let's Go Boppin' they stay the course and have released another winner. This time out we get a damn good bang for your buck with 16 tracks. For an album consisting of manly covers,  this puppy is very refreshing and has a great vibe. From boppers to strollers and rockers, it delivers the goods.Highlights include: "Don't Go", " Let's Go Boppin' " , You Shake Me Up" and "Ain't That A Dilly".
     Overall  "Let's Go Boppin" " is a great mix of straight up rockabilly and rock n roll The Mee Kats are in a kool grove here and that makes for some enjoyable listening .Besides that, this is a band that is real easy to like. Recommened!

The Terrorsurfs - Mutant Surfin' Trash 2018

 
 Back in late 2016 The Terrorsurfs  crawled out the primordial ooze and dropped the explosive and raw  "Zomboid Surf Attack".With that knock out punch ,they firmly established themselves as a  surf band to be reckoned with.  These cats throw  down some of the best  surf punk/ smash mouth surf  out there and aren't afraid to mix it up.The band's debut album set the bar high  and now they have struck  back with their  excellent sophomore effort "Mutant Surfin' Trash".This time out( now as a four piece) they back it up a bit  and bring more traditional surf  into the sonic mix.But don't kid yourself this, baby still packs a big punch. We get 12 original tracks  that range from traditional leaning surf to all out surf punk.Highlights include: "Surf Burger", "Sax Fiend","Terrorsufer" and "Bat Shit Crazy"

    By showing some restraint  The Terrorsurfs manage to pull off a well balanced and kool sounding attack with " Mutant Surfin' Trash" .It's one album you want to grab. Highly recommended!
