Darrel Higham and The Enforcers - Bop Machine 2019

Darrel Higham needs no introduction , his rap sheet is just as impressive as it is long.Despite been one hell of a busy man .he always returns to the killer Darrel Higham and The Enforcers. It was 4 years ago (2015) since their last release and that was the  Rocky Burnette with Darrel Higham and The Enforcers; "Rockabilly Boogie" album. So it's been a long time coming for a new release and as always there is a whack of anticipation for any thing new from these cats. The band's 10th album "Bop Machine" has now dropped and to no surprise it's freakin sweet.Hell the 12 tracks here more than live up to the title of the disc.We get 7 originals and 5 covers of top shelf rockabilly/ rock n roll. From a mid tempo boppers to all out rockers this puppy moves and grooves with confidence. The standout track "Bop Machine",was released as a single by Darrel Higham with Scotty Baker last year on Foot Tapping Records .Other highlights include: "The Snake", "A Dark Sky","That's The Way" and "The Brain Freeze"

As usual Darrel Higham and The Enforcers have pulled off another winner with "Bop Machine".It's got a great balance of kool covers and even stronger originals. One could argue it's an embarrassment of riches .That's how good this really is,so what are you waiting for.High recommended!!!

The Lucitones - Three Moons 2019

One of America's  most dangerous bands is on a roll.I'm talkin' about The Lucitones here and with 2  mighty fine eps and a killer debut album already under their belts, these psychobilly cats have become top contenders. If that wasn't enough their latest and best release yet " Three Moons" is now out and it's flat out killer. This puppy attacks with confidence and delivers a knock out punch .We get 12 servings of  a tasty brew of  psychobilly, rock n roll and punk. Also all 3 tracks from the 2018 ep "Mark Of The Wolf" appear here. It's a psychobilly album that has fun and means business.Highlights include:  "Change The Locks","Mark Of  Cain", "Haunted Halls","Swingin' By The Door" and "Her Crypt In The Woods" .

Sure I admit I'm a of The Lucitones, but believe me if your not already fan give "Three Moons" a spin and you will be.It's that good and one of the best this year too boot.Highly recommended!!!

Johnny Rocket - Come A Little Closer 2019

Nine  years ago,(back in 2010) punkabilly cats;Johnny Rocket released their second album "Dance Embargo".Since then ,over the years they have split up then reformed, shifted the gears and changed up the musical direction. Now the band's long awaited third album; "Come A Little Closer" has dropped and the results are,you could say are surprisingly damn good. First up this isn't a straight up punkabilly outfit that keeps it revved up like a rocket sled, instead they have developed and matured into more of a damn stout rock n roll band. This time out we get 11 originals and 2 covers that range from punkabilly, hard driving rock to the blues and a little shade of country. They ease the pedal up and down here and as result this is one refreshing and fun ride. In many ways it's a daring album and a kool change up that probably will piss off a few longtime  fans. Saying that, this arguably be their best album.Highlights include : "Yeah Yeah Yeah", "Save My Soul", "Boobs  N Beer", I Like You Baby" and "Beggin' For More".

Straight up, "Come A Little Closer" is a winner and is worth snagging up.It may have taken  Johnny Rocket   nine years to put this puppy out but it was and is well worth it. Highly recommended.

The Raggy Ass Boys - Ugly Betty 2019

If your looking for some kool and sweet rockabilly, The Raggy Ass Boys  have just what you need.Since forming in 2018  these cats have ,you could say have been severely overlooked.Kinda unfair since the membership  have been kicking around the British rockin' scene since the 80's .Bottom line is that  this is one rockin' outfit that delivers.Just one listen to their debut album "Ugly Betty" and you'll be hooked. This is a damn kool shot of serious rockabilly that clocks in with 12 original and 2 covers. It's pretty much straight up rockabilly/neo rockabilly with some blues added into the affair. They even throw in some harp action to mix it up.As a result this is a well balanced and stout debut.Highlights include: "Call On You", Ugly Betty", "Trailer Trash" and "Pyromaniac".

The Raggy Ass Boys have been described as "kickass rockabilly"and some may disagree with that .But they are damn good rockabilly that has a whack of swagger and back it up. "Ugly Betty" is a mighty fine debut by a band that you should keep an eye on. Highly recommended.
