Mars Attacks - Blood And Thunder 2013

Hard to believe these Euro kats have been  at it since 1998.These guys have really worked it over the years and as a result they have developed a  following around the world.Oh and they are also known as one of Europe's better rockabilly bands.Now in their 15th year the band has released  album #6: "Blood And Thunder" and to me it  kinda has a different feel to it than some of their previous releases  .This is rockabilly with a healthy dose of blues(some killer harp here),a dash of country flavoring added in the mix,some ballads and as well the band's trademark trumpet. We get 15 tracks here that add up to a solid and interesting album.Highlights include:" Count To Three","Blood And Thunder", "Deep Down In The Mud" and the kool "In The Alley Baby". Frankie & The Pool Boys - The Adventures Of Cap'n Coconuts 2013

Until recently I had never heard Frankie & The Pool Boys, chances are most of you haven't either and that's just not right .This  San Francisco based band is nothing short of what you could call a surf super group.With members from The Surf Coasters, Pollo Del Mar, The TomorrowMen, Meshugga Beach Party and The Gregors what else would you call it. The band's debut album came out in 2008.Since then the band has done some touring but all the members have  been busy with their regular gigs. Late last year the band finally  had the time to record their sophomore album. The resulting effort "The Adventures Of Cap'n Coconuts" is simply stunning. Clocking in at around 42 minutes with 14 tracks that  not only are surprisingly original but are also fun and totally refreshing.One could argue that some tracks aren't really surf,sure but this is a top notch group of players pushing the boundaries of surf .Pretty well every track here is a highlight but some of the standouts are: " Cat Fight, " Rattler Ranch", " Cap'n Coconuts TV Theme" and "Manx!.
  There is so much going on here that it takes a few listenings  to wrap your head around "The Adventures Of Cap'n Coconuts" but it's well worth the effort.Straight up: this is a great  surf/instrumental  album. Christian D And The Hangovers - Cut Loose And Live 2013

One thing you gotta know about Christian D And The Hangovers  is that these boys can rock .Hailing from the big smoke known as Toronto these kats have been rippin' it up since 2007 .Playing a brand of rockabilly that's just as much rock n roll with a bit of punk attitude,you can't help but take notice.With one ep,an album and a couple of singles the band has shown that it's not afraid to step outside the rockabilly box.Which brings us to the band's latest release "Cut Loose And Live" and I gotta say this is one impressive live album.Clocking in with 15 songs,this is one set that is sure to light a fire under your ass.We get a kool mix of covers and originals as well as some new tunes.Highlights include " Gasoline Radio"(a new tune),"Vampire Rocker ", "Looked 19" and " Hot Mess".
   Christian D And The Hangovers are in fine form here  and as far as live albums go "Cut Loose And Live"   is one of the better ones to come down the pike in the last couple of years. The Bone Machine - Giù Nel Mio Inferno 2013

Since 1999 these Italian psychos  have been known as "the diabolical perversion of Rock'n'Roll". What these kats play  has been called "psychotic,primitive rockabilly", but you could ask 10 people and get 10 different answers that vary from trash to garage to horror punk and psychobilly.You get the picture here.Anyway with a handful of killer recordings (albums ,eps and splits) under their belts they have managed to carve out an interesting niche for themselves Now the band has released "Giù Nel Mio Inferno" on an unsuspecting  public .This is one hell (no pun intended) of an album  clocking in with 12 hammering tracks that one can't help but like.As on past efforts we get a rock n roll swamp mix with every thing from blues to surf throwin'  that oozes and kicks crazy and it's all in Italian.Highlights include: "Era Il Re","Surf Nella Palude Morta","Twist Dell'esorcista" and " Sei Nei Guai".

The Kings Of Outer Space - How To Fly A Rocket 2013

The Kings Of Outer Space believe it or not really hail from Bristol and brother it's time we take them seriously.Back in 2010 they dropped a niffty debut album called "Cosmic Debris" that managed to turn a few heads.Now in 2013 these outer space kats have upped the ante with the release of " How To Fly A Rocket". I'm talkin'  more fun, more kool and more "intergalactic rockabilly". We get 13 pretty damn solid  tracks that deliver the goods.This is a lively twisty stew of rockabilly with a healthy dash of diversity  thrown in for good measure.Hell we even get a squeeze box  and some banjo too boot.Highlights include" Fall From Grace","Cosmic Thrust","Monkey Arm" and "44".

Mickey & The Mutants – Touch The Madness 2013

Mickey & The Mutants  may be a new band  but when you have an ex-member of The Meteors and Guana Batz plus an ex-Shark  you just know they're going to make waves.Sure there has been some detractors but the buzz around the band has been pretty good even on this side of the Atlantic.That said you just know that some out there will have high expectations placed on the band. Anyway Mickey & The Mutants have just dropped their debut album " Touch The Madness " and it's a solid effort This puppy comes in with 12 tracks of old school psychobilly than at times slams into "Filthy Rock n Roll". There are a few  tracks here than are slow paced(you could say atmospheric). Highlights include: "Blonde Haired Assassin", "Burn You Sinners Burn"," Mind Control" and "Zombie".
