Insect Surfers - Datura Moon 2017

The Insect Surfers have been kicking around since 1979 and in that time they have appeared on a whack of compilations but have only released 4 albums ( not including a best of and live album).However those 4 albums are pretty much considered classics of the surf genre. Their last and arguably best offering "Infra Green" came out in 2013.Despite the limited amount of releases they are and remain one of the kings of modern surf.That said the band's latest "Datura Moon"is finally out and  again they take it a notch up.This time out we get 10 original tracks that run the gamut  from traditional to progressive surf to psychedelic.Let's call it what it is damn good modern surf.Sure it's more of the same but these cats always seem to up the game. This is one  kool and refreshing ride that pushes the folds  of surf .Highlights include: " Flying Fish Offramp","Red Mesa", "Tapping The Source" and "Wavelength"

 The Insect Surfers are a band you expect good things from and they always deliver.With " Datura Moon" they do it again.This is a pretty stout and impressive album by a truly killer band. Highly recommended !

The Devil's Sons - Godless Creatures 2017

Out of the frozen wasteland known as Edmonton comes The Devil's Sons and these cats mean business.You may not be familiar with them but they pack some mean canuck psycho pedigree.With Brad Graves (Grave Mistakes, The Brains) and Ferenando De Los Santos (The Preying Saints, Raygun Cowboys)  in this outfit,one just knows that something good is brewing. In the last couple of years they have released  some demos and a solid single and now they are dropping their much anticipated debut album. With "Godless Creatures" The Devil's Sons kick some major ass.This is full frontal psychobilly mashing with "high octane rock n roll" and as a result; takes no prisoners. We get 13 original tracks of evil fun that leave you wanting more.Hell they even throw in a little sax ,just to keep you on your toes  It's an impressive effort from start to finish. Highlights include:"Motor City Blues",With Vengeance", "Angel Of Pain: , "Stray From The Pack And Murder" and "Bloodline"

A.J. & The Rockin Trio - Rockin' The Blues 2017

It's been just over 3 years since A.J.& The Rockin Trio  burst onto the scene and since then it's been all good. Their 2015 self- titled is damn stout and they followed it up with the stellar and killer album "Howlin' At The Moon" in 2016. This is one rockabilly outfit that will color you  impressed.Not standing still they have hit back with another winner " Rockin' The Blues" and this puppy brings it on.We get 10 originals and 2 covers  that will have you up and  shakin'. From straight up rockabilly to rockabilly blues this puppy rocks with confidence. They even  throw in a little trombone action,some tinges of country  and have Coral Lee step in to sing on one track. All this  adds an extra punch to the affair.Highlights include: "Moonshine Boogie", "Rockabilly Fever", "Done Me Wrong" and "All Day and Night".
       A.J.& The Rockin Trio have really delivered the goods with "Rockin' The Blues". This is one hungry and serious  band that keeps getting better with every release. Highly recommended!

Whiskey Kill - Pink Luggage 2017

With  a rap sheet that features 3 stout albums, New Hampshire's Whiskey Kill somehow have managed to fly under the wire and that's a shame.Since 2010 these kats have been kicking out a brew of kool rockabilly and rockin' outlaw country that's brash, often raw and always fun. With "Pink Luggage" their 4th and latest release they stay the course and sound better than ever.This puppy clocks in with 9 originals and 2 covers (the digital download comes with just the 9 originals) that are hard to resist.We get songs about drinking ,bad women, bad luck,working hard ,more women and more drinking.Make no mistake here; this is all a hell of a good time .You could say this is rockabilly that mashes with trashy wild Americana and you gotta like that. Highlights include: "Broken Down", " Pink Luggage","Hot Mess Killer" and  the sweet and previously released "Tokyo Rose".

      There is a lot to like about  "Pink Luggage" and it's the bands best effort yet .It's  kinda unpolished, shoots straight and is  damn good .You can't go wrong here .Recommended!!!

The Margraves - Primitive Beat 2017

 Roy Kay has been in some pretty killer bands but none kooler than The Margraves. Back in 2014 they released their debut "On The Warpath" a sweet and stellar album chalked full of rock n roll goodness. Since then these kats  have been winning over fans with their brand of 50's inspired  rock n roll that is catchy as hell, very seductive and  hard to resist.Now in 2017 they are back, officially now as a  four piece and with their sophomore album,"Primitive Beat".This time out we get 14 killer originals that stay the course yet still manage to up the game. At times it's wild,moody ,hard driving and also sexy.This is one puppy that hits a groove  and stays there making it a sweet ride from start to finish.Highlights include: "She Shakes", "Not Guilty", "Primitive Beat", "La Matadora" and "Black Widow".

         
   Bottom line on " Primitive Beat" is that it's, flat out a winner. This is freakin' kool  rock n roll that leaves you wanting more.Highly recommended!!!
