Bird Doggin' Daddies - We Got The Bug! 2013

If your into rockabilly  and haven't heard The Bird Doggin' Daddies your in for a major surprise.This German outfit has been laying down "pure rockabilly" since 2006.In 2011 the band released a self-titled album that made some waves and diffidently put them on the map.  Now these kats are back with their sophomore album and you could say it's a tour de force. This puppy strolls in with a mix of 18 originals and covers that will please even the hardest rockabilly purist. Simply put this is a killer rockabilly album.Highlights include: "Let's Go For A Ride" ,"Lil' Pretty Miss" ,"Let's Go Crazy" and "I Ruined My Suit ". Have to say the band's original tunes really shine here.  We Got The Bug! is one of the better releases this year and one you should have.Highly recommended

Fenders 55 - Troublemaker 2013

From the far south of Germany comes Fenders 55 and these kats mean business. Known as a band that plays wild and unpredictable rockabilly/rock n roll they have built a solid fan base as well as also having developed a ton of cred.Not surprising is the fact that on this side(North America) of the pond the band is virtually unknown but that's about to change. Troublemaker the band's debut is one damn fine album that rocks in with 14 tracks.We get a rockabilly and rock n roll mix that has just the right amount of country throwin'. Highlights include"Cool Cat Racer", "Cry At Night", "Truck Driving Man" and the way kool  " Old School Troublemaker".

From start to finish this is a strong well balanced album  and you could say that Fenders 55   bang on -nails it.Keep your eyes on these boys and drop some of your cash on  "Troublemaker". Recommended!

Francine - Still Burning 2013

Francine have never been afraid to mix things up.Hell  back in 1987 this was basically a rockabilly outfit   and over the years ,depending how you look at it they became  psychobilly  or punkabilly and are now  a kool rock band.That's right I said Francine was a  rock band and a good one at that.Which brings us to their 10th studio album (I think) "Still Burning" and let's just say this puppy has swagger.Punching in with 12 tracks that for the most part rock hard and fast .Musically this burns from hard-rock to a little punkabilly and even ska. Highlights include: "Time to Go", "Kill Me", "Highway " and a kool cover of " Come On, Let's Go".

Is this the band's best probably not but "Still Burning" is a pretty solid rock album that kicks serious ass.Francine is one band that plays by their own rules and they still can surprise.You gotta like that .You may want to check it out.    https://www.facebook.com/francineofficial     http://www.francine.st/etusivu 

The Rockets – Nail Polish, Lies And Gasoline 2013

Swiss kats The Rockets emerged on the European scene in 2007  and since then these boys have made a name foe themselves  and have become one of Europe's premiere rockabilly/rock n roll bands.If you need proof of that just check out the band's new album "Nail Polish, Lies And Gasoline"(their 3rd album). Clocking in with 15 very fresh tracks(13 originals and 2 covers) that make for one stellar disc.From straight up rockabilly and 50's rock to flat out rockers this puppy moves and groves.Highlights include: "Linda Lou", "Teardrop Bop", "Floor It" and  "Evil Woman " .

This is one of those albums that has solid  pacing and really kool songs that are executed in a mighty fine way. "Nail Polish, Lies And Gasoline" is more than damn good and it is one album you should have. Nülydedz - Voracious Nülydedz 2013

 

Have to admit when I first saw the name Nülydedz my mind was leaning towards this been some kind of psycho/metal viking band .Boy was I wrong on that.The Nülydedz hail from Louisville, Kentucky and are a "Zombie Rockabilly band" that play something called "PsychoZombilly". Their debut is called "Voracious Nülydedz" and guess what it's all about zombies,brains and more zombies.If your like me you may not be a big fan of the so-called horrorbilly but I gotta say this is kinda kool.Clocking in with 10 original tracks of zombie inspired  tunes that sit at the corner of rockabilly and rock n roll.There also is a bit of country flavor as well as a dash of cowpunk to boot.  Highlights include: "Big Brains", " Demolition Derby Time" ,"Team Zombie"and  "Zombie Revival".

Jack Baymoore & The Bandits - Let's Drag 2013

Since 1996 Sweden's  Jack Baymoore & The Bandits have strived to be one of the best rockabilly bands out there.These kats have not only built up a strong following  but have also sold a surprisingly amount of records/cds in the process.In Sweden they have charted very well in the past .The last album the band put out, "Diggin' Out" was released  in 2003.So now in 2013( ten years later)  the band has dropped their 5th album and no surprise here it's good.  Let's Drag comes in with 13 tracks that is just what you would expect from this outfit : real solid 50's rock /rockabilly with tinges of country and hillbilly.We get a mix bag of new songs, some covers and some remakes of older songs all which add up to a pretty satisfying disc.Highlights include: "Come On", "Flat Out", "Move On" and "Fireball Roberts".

It is good to see that a top shelf band like Jack Baymoore & The Bandits still got it and can rock out .This probably isn't the band's best effort  but that doesn't mean it's not damn good .If you haven't heard of these guys this is a really good starting point and if your already a fan you know you gotta have it.This is some good rockabilly.Recommended   https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jack-Baymoore/502036629837842?fref=ts  http://www.baymoore.com/start.asp

The Zorchmen - Attack of the Zorchmen 2013

Mention the name The Zorchmen to anyone who really is into psychobilly and chances are they will not only  know the name but also they're response will be of praise.After all this back up band consisting of  Doyley, Ginger Meadham and Andi Kandil shouts psychobilly. Too many people they are the flag bearers of old school psychobilly.After backing Nigel Lewis, Dave Finnegan, and  Captain Drugbuster in the past these psychos have  now decided to let loose  their own  debut album  on an unsuspecting world.

 "Attack of the Zorchmen" comes at you with 13 tracks of original  killer psychobilly that are sure to cure your ills.This is old school psychobilly first and foremost that's done extremely well.We also get some tinges of twang and surf in the mix as well as some  sci-fi action too boot.Highlights include: "Jungle Fever", "Reloaded","Billysville" and "Operation Timebomb". Kat Men - The Kat Men Cometh 2013

When Slim Jim Phantom and  Darrel Higham got together back in 2007 it was big news and the resulting album "Kat Men" was damn impressive.After some success this side project was put on the shelf due to some major commitments.Now in  2013 the boys are back and they have added bassist Al Gare (very underrated by the way) to put more traction into the mix.The result is "The Kat Men Cometh" and yes it was worth the wait.Coming in with 14 tracks of  mainly fresh modern rockabilly this is one album that definitely will please.We get a great mix of some covers and originals that are fueled by  blues,country and rock n roll  that all meld into some kool rockabilly.

Highlights include: "When The Drinks Dried Up", "You Can Go Now","We Need Elvis Back" and a kool cover of "Over Under Sideways Down".
